Gunter is really intriguing, if he can run well enough. He had a rotten 40 (4.69), but seemed to play pretty well in Mobile and he'd be the only CB over 6' on the roster, should he make it.

"Excels in off coverage and has played outside, as single-high safety and over tight ends."

FWIW from PFF:

Matt Rotheram, G, Green Bay Packers

One of my favorite players to watch during the 2014 season, Rotheram was a first-team All-American in our eyes as a bullying behemoth in the run game. No guard matched his grade in that respect as he finished with the top score in the nation. So, while he struggled at times in pass pro and doesn’t wow you with his athleticism like the guy who played next to him, his execution and polish present him with a great chance to find a home in the NFL.

I agree.

I also think that Adrian Coxson could find a way to stick.  That would mean that Myles White and Jared Abb... would not make it.  The one thing I thought that JA was going to bring was a kick returner.  They just drafted 3 guys who can do that.

This is also the last contract year for LB Mike Neal, LB Nick Perry, & DE Mike Daniels.  If Adrian Hubbard and Jayrone Elliott makes significant jumps in performance this next TC, I think one of Neal or Perry or both could be gone this year.  I know I am tqlking about last years UDFAs.

On a related note - this is also Mike Daniels contract year and they brought in his clone - Christian Ringo.  No coincidence there.

@RobDemovsky: #Packers not signing QB Blake Sims at this time per his agent, but will keep tabs on him. Sims to attend Redskins rookie camp as an RB.

@WesHod: As @PackerReport said, #Packers told Alabama QB Blake Sims he won't be signed at this time. CMU OL Andy Phillips tweeted that he's staying.

I'd be really surprised if TT was willing to discard a fifth-round pick that quickly. All indications are they really liked him as a receiver and his return ability was just a bonus. Real question I have with him is his durability.

...and hopefully he can now bench more than 10 pounds.

Regardless, I wouldn't be surprised to see more than one of the new WRs stick. Nelson has hit 30 and they probably want to give him some plays off to keep him fresher. Cobb is pretty durable, but the middle is always a dangerous place. Adams is only going to get better, but is not a burner to stretch the field. In addition, it seems one or more of these guys may stick just for his return ability. White, Abb, and even Janis will all be fighting for a job. (But don't be surprised if someone gets a "high ankle sprain" and ends up on IR all year...

Great look by GBPG at one of Ted's best recruiting tools for UFDAs. ROTTT

... There's no replacing the value of a face-to-face meeting with an organization. Based on recent history, it's a market the Green Bay Packers appear to have cornered.

General manager Ted Thompson prefers to use pre-draft visits to circle back with possible late-round picks or priority free agents who might not have been invited to the NFL combine. For the prospects, it's an opportunity to gauge a team's interest...

"Since Ted Thompson became general manager in 2005, the Packers have the most snaps from undrafted players in the NFL at 77,079, according to ESPN.com, with the next-closest team well behind at 54,105."

Pete Daughtery, Press Gazette Media, Packernews. com

The difference is the equivalent of two 10 year starters;

On these numbers alone an UDFA has a 10% better chance of making it with the Packers than he does with any other team. Any surprise it's a preferred destination?

When a D&D team really does develop players, it will attract those that need development.  The Packers have really made great efforts to work with guys, sometimes longer than any of us geniuses wanted, before ejecting them when it is clear they've topped out.  Makes "signing our own is priority #1" even more important in the grand scheme of D&D.
