There is nothing I respect more than an American who at one point in their life wrote a blank check to the United States for an amount up to and including his/her own life.  Sound off with your service.

Wow! for me it was just understood that the loss of my life was possible. I guess I was willing but was in no hurry! I just considered it to be my job and my obligation to my fellow service members. As it turned out some of my friends paid the price. I was injured in Iraq and was given a medal and a ticket home. I still mourn my friends who gave it all so that I could have a better life.

No, I was with HQBN. Only time I was deployed was a month in Turkey, and we flew there.

Thanks to all of you for your service to the US in the armed forces.

I'd like to thank my son who is a USAF pilot currently flying tanker missions in the middle east.  My Dad who flew "the hump" in WW2 - giving new meaning the phrase "hump day".  And my father in law who served in the army during the Korean war.

My son in past deployment flew flags in his plane on veterans day over the middle east and gave them to former US servivemen he knew.  I thought that was cool.  I know the USAF made that possible.

NICE!!!!!  We got pulled out of a kick ass liberty port to head to Incirlik, Turkey for Humanitarian mission after the earthquake in '99.

We flew into (and out of) Incirlik in Sept of '98. The night before we were to head back to the states, we were all kicked out of the karaoke bar. The Turkish soldiers were chasing us with dogs!

"Thanks for your service"

That's funny! I had a hand in breaking up a few "adventures" during shore leave. Two fellows went too far and got to spend time in Turkish jail. I got to visit them there.

A belated "Thanks" to all current and former servicemen/women!

Dad - WWII (particularly the Battle of the Bulge - Sherman tank, sergeant) I have a picture of him sitting on his tank, one of my favorites

Brother - 7 years Army - one tour Vietnam

Oldest nephew - Army reserve

Youngest nephew - Army during that incident in Kuwait

Husband - Army '69-'71

If anyone has ever watched the NBC documentary with Brian Williams "Journey to Normandy," my husband's relative is one of the four.

As a non-veteran due to health considerations, I never pass up a chance to thank any veteran that I see whether I know them or not.   My bleeding ulcer occured just a couople of months before I was to enter service.   Uncle Sam did not want me any more.

A VERY BIG THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE SERVED OR ARE NOW SERVING.

Won the toss

A little humor from where I work.  Wanted to get this in the thread earlier, but was not allowed to do it with my computer at work.  From home it works just fine, I just needed to remember to do it.

Go US Armed Services, Go!  (not quite the same as 'Go Pack Go' but it will have to do.

Wait, it was Turkey, no?

Carry on.

again, too funny!

What's strange for me is that my daughter was in Turkey and is now serving in Bagdad. Makes her old man worry...
