My guess is that ARod has had enough of piss-poor calls from the refs, and was expressing his opinions about their capabilities.
That play was a cluster@#$& from the moment the play ended by the refs, ARod saw what was coming, and they managed to make the worst possible call they could have. I was pissed off, too.

BTW, if I may ask a favor from anyone with DVR capabilities, look at this play at the very end of the "live" shot. The refs are beginning to gather to "discuss what they saw", and as the camera pulls back, it looked to me like there was a black ref standing on the goalline signaling a TD. I could only see his back and arms before they cut away from that angle, but his arms were raised, and I'm sure he wasn't calling for clock stoppage.

He puts his hands up but he's not signaling touchdown, he's not even involved in the discussion.

Can someone 'splain why throwing the flag there is 15 yards? Clearly, MM threw it as a knee jerk reaction in the heat of the moment. What's the harm? Pick up the flag and move on. Lord knows the refs piss away more time on less important things during the course of a game.
I don't have a problem with the rule. Stupidity should be painful. Now if only that could be applied to the officials too....
The biggest thing Rodgers was mad about was how slow Carey was spotting the ball.

It was ruining the timing of the offense. MM was mad about it too. It also helped the Vikings defense get prepared for the next play. Small thing most average fans won't notice but it affects the game.

I expect to see more of it on Saturday.

NFLFU does not want the Packers winning this year. Get used to it.

Your darling teams in the NFC....

Seattle / Washington / Minnesota / 49ers (New stadium to fill)

In the AFC....

Patriots (Always, Bob Kraft) / Broncos (Manning) / Bengals / Colts

I expect to see 1 from each conference in the Super Bowl.

Packers / Atlanta / Baltimore / Houston / One of them might make the Championship games but that'll be it.

I dunno. I think a matchup between Aaron Rodgers and Peyton Manning would have a lot of appeal from a marketing standpoint. Changing of the guard, passing of the torch, that sort of thing.... probably Manning's last legitimate shot at another ring, going up against the best quarterback of the new generation, the guy who's already starting to break all of Manning's records... one of the most legendary quarterbacks in history resurrecting his career against impossible odds, another legend-in-the-making trying to restore glory to the most legendary franchise in league history.... they can sell that one all day long. That'd be a good storyline. I should e-mail Roger and tell him to make it happen.
My take is that Rodgers was yelling at the coach based on the replay at 1:40 in Game Rewind. He followed Jordy who picked up the flag and may have been screaming prior to running off the field, but had clear view to everything and JN did. He turned his head and was facing the coach as he shouted when he was out of bounds.

Certainly, he was irritated with a lot of things prior to the event. These are all clearly detailed in the posts above. I think MM throwing the red flag is the straw that broke the camel's back.

He had reason to get mad, but the way he reacted was incredibly immature. I hope MM or someone else gave him an earful about that insubordination. It was completely unconstructive. You cannot yell at the coach like that. You can bet that if he ever does anything like this again that this sequence and the yelling at receivers earlier in the year (I think it was James Jones) will be rolled over and over. Skip Bayless will have a field day with this and be right.

If Finley or Jennings' sister did that, this board would all over them for that.

Because the NFL likes giving the referees the power to decide who wins and loses games. This rule is just the latest weapon in their arsenal.
