You know it's kind of funny that we've lamented about how poor the farm system has been but Peralta and Thornburg have been lights out and Khris Davis has turned into a pretty good player that still has upside.
The other move that has worked in their favor is the Aoki for Will Smith deal. Left handed relievers that can throw 95 and consistently get guys out are tough to find and Smith has basically turned into one of their primary set up guys.
