To preface, I don't follow much of all the draft prelude; pundits trying to play GM. So I am kind of ignorant of specific players outside the Big Ten. But I DO like draft weekend and watching who picks whom.

Pretty happy with TT last night. Lord knows we need a d-lineman who can get after the passer. Hopefully, Day-Tone can play.

So, what happens tonight? More defense? OL? WR? RB?

Personally, at 55, I'd like to see TT take Barrett Jones if he is sitting there. He is a versatile player, which the Packers' brass likes. He seems to be Packer people. And we need interior line help.

At 88 I don't have my eyes on any particular player. We could use an ILB who is a playmaker. We need a playmaking safety who can bring a physical presence. Can TT find an every down RB so there is some stability back there? The WR group is deep this year and I think we could use one; a guy who can get deep.

Discuss.

Barrett Jones would be an incredible pick, but I can't imagine he'll be there at 55. He's the sort of center who could play a big role in turning this OL around. That, combined with a successful flip of Bulaga to LT would instantly make it a quality group. The team is playing with fire with this 50+ sack garbage on Rodgers, and it needs to end. Rodgers and McCarthy don't need new toys at WR, because they're a 6-7 win team (at best) if Rodgers goes on IR (or even misses multiple key games due to concussions), no matter how good the WR corps are. Cobb/Nelson/Jones are still one of the top groups in the NFL, and now is not the time to think about the future with a group that good. Not when Rodgers takes 50+ sacks or guys like Adrian Peterson and Colin Kaepernick run through the defense like it isn't even there.
I agree that Jones would be a great pick if available. That would add depth to the O-line and hopefully can have a starting 5 set in TC. After the 2nd round, I have no idea what to expect. All depends on what's available.

Can't belive I just watched over 3 hours of the darft and I can't wait for round 2 to start. Is it September yet?
Helmet Hair predicts we take:

Cornelius Washington, OLB, Georgia

Another pass-rushing OLB, Washington could split time with Nick Perry.

Not seeing it...especially when he predicts these folks will also be on the board:

56. Seattle Seahawks
Kawann Short, DT, Purdue

One of their few needs is at defensive tackle. Short will provide value this late in the second.

57. Houston Texans
Menelik Watson, OT, Florida State

Their zone-blocking scheme is a good fit for Watson, and the Texans need a right tackle.

62. Baltimore Ravens
Terron Armstead, OT, Arkansas-Pine Bluff

Tackle is a need, and Armstead has the athleticism to become a starter on the left side.
Phil Thomas' 40 may scare some teams away. 4.65 at combine, recorded 4.59 twice at the Fresno State pro day.

He is a ballhawk for sure...and much like Datone Jones, blossomed under a new staff. Tim DeRuyter and Nick Toth were let go by the new aTm staff, and brought the Dick LeBeau 3-4 to Fresno State which went from a defense ranked in the low 100's for 3 straight years to one ranked 22nd in total defense. Ditto that in turnover margin and turnovers gained...from low 100's to #'s 5 and 7 respectively.

IF they do take PT, that means Burnett moves to FS...no way PT has the speed needed for that. But he WILL hit, and he WILL make acrobatic picks.
