What does the loss of Quarless mean?

I presume that means Ryan Taylor.

We will be down to 4 TE's.

Does anyone have confirmation that it was an ACL? Check out Crabtree's Facebook page and there is a comment from someone about a broken fibula.

Quarless was much improved as a blocker this year. Not sure it will hurt them too much when they have so many TE's. Crabtree takes on Quarless role and DJ Williams becomes active more often

The replay of the injury was ugly.

In a pinch, they can have Kuhn play TE. Or maybe Raji.

It could hurt the run game in a big way. He has been a stud this year and easily the best blocking TE of the group.

What run game. If he can't return we lose YOTTO's replacement for next year. That hurts.

bingo. I hate the fact that finely is going to get the franchise tag. The guy doesn't deserve it. His drops are killing this team from closing out games.

The one that they went to 28times today. The one they play actioned off of another 10 or so times today.

The knock on Andrew was he didn't block well. He really discarded that flaw this year. When allowed he played well in the passing game.

I expect D J Williams will step up very nicely.

You never want to see a guy go down like that but if there's one position on the team GB can sustain a few injuries it's at TE.

At least we have plenty of TE's. I like Crabtree. His run blocking is great and he seems to have good hands.

I'd like to see what Williams can do. I don't think he's even played since he messed up against Minnesota. I think he's pretty talented though.

I think we see Gurley activated. Pre-season they were talking about him being a good special teams player, and he can fill in for Quarless there. They don't need another TE, and I don't know what position (maybe O line) that you need a street free agent for when that spot opens.

Crabtree does the blocking and Williams does the pass catching. Williams blocking isn't up to par yet, but he was praised as a good route runner with great hands out of Arkansas. Pack should make due fine

just hope Quarless is able to get back on the field for next season. That looked rough

Really liked the way Andrew seemed to mature and improve this year. A sad development....

Interesting idea.. IF DJ Williams is really that far into the dog house it may happen. The problem is they run so many different two TE sets that only having 3 active on game day leaves them a little vulnerable in terms of sustaining a injury on game day.

I like it though, he made plays on teams during the pre-season.

I don't know if DJ Williams is in the doghouse. I remember reading about some angst about having to pick somebody to deactivate when Neal got healthy.

When Neal was ready to go the coaches chose to sit Williams and just have 4 TEs active on game day.

It means I am going to have to jump on the Finley band wagon.

In today's presser McCarthy said Williams would be active and likely fill in for Quarless on special teams. Perhaps some offensive reps as well.

.....time to quickly sign Spencer Havner to get back to 5 TE's.

AR implied yesterday that Ryan Taylor would become more involved with the offense.

AR said should, not would.

I was afraid of this possibility.

Young man had worked very hard and by all appearances was getting his act together following some bouts with immaturity at PSU. IMO was one of the most improved players on the team. Here's wishing him the best.

He was head and shoulders above the other guys behind him

any wonder why these guys want to get paid asap. Very short NFL careers for most players.

@BobMcGinn, Quarless had ACL surgery Monday. He also had MCL damage but that healed on its own. He didn't give a timetable.


This looks like good news... MCL healed on its own so only ACL surgery.

I'll be surprised if he isn't on the PUP list at the beginning of next season. Tough break for a really promising player. Hope they get him better and he can come back and make an impact.

That's huge, isn't it? The 10-12 month rehab is for when both are repaired, right? He's not as natural a receiver as Finley but he seems like a good blocker and teammate and till has hope of developing as a receiver. His biggest concerns coming out of the draft were maturity issues, which haven't seemed to be an issue at all.
