1) Detroit is not bad but KC is just horrible

2) The Bucs and Falcons are seriously overrated.

3) The Vajeens plain suck.

4) Cam Newton is a decent player but facing man coverage he looks pretty damn rookie.

5) If Cam Newton continues with college spread offense crap he will inevitably be eating through a straw.

6) Buffalo doesn't suck so much. AFC West sucks slightly less than the NFC West.

7) Chicago is not bad but they can be worn down.

8) The Saints should run away with the NFC South.

9) The Packers oline looked better in run protection than pass protection today. Guh.

10) Frog and Toad will 69 each other while trying to argue the world is flat and Marcus Bachmann isn't gay.

1) Todd Haley might go down as this decade' Rich Kotite.

2) The Bears are too inconsistent to be a threat.

3) Cam Newton has talent but not the brains to be a successful QB.

4) Buffalo would be in the Wild Card hunt if they weren't in the AFC East.

5) The Falcons have been exposed. Matt Ryan can't do it all himself.

6) The Bucs are one-year wonders.

7) The Vikings implosion is continuing. It won't be long before they will be indistinguishable from an urban high school in terms of overall chaos and lack of direction.

8) With Favre gone, Newton will fit in nicely with Vick and Brady in Goodell's dream orgy.

9) Norv Turner will lose his team for good this year.

That team needs to be blown up, and they just signed a running back to a HUGE contract. It's freakin' beautiful.

Good luck building a team around a guy who will be on the downslide in three seasons max.

He's a rookie. A rookie that's only played in two NFL football games... That just happened to throw for over 400 yards against the Packers defense on his way to setting an NFL record for most yards thrown in his first two games.

I'm not crowning his ass, but I think a little bit of credit is deserved.
1) Ryan Fitzpatrick is the #1 rated QB in the league after 2 games Eeker
2) KC might not win a game this year
3) Manning is the MVP of the league even if he doesn't play for Indy
4) The Packers need Tramon Williams back in the lineup
5) The Bears OL still can't block anyone
6) The Vikings run defense flat out sucks without the two Williams sisters
7) Darren Sproles looks pretty damn good as FA pickup
8) Lions are much improved, but they haven't played any great teams yet
9) New England might break a record this year for passing yards
10) ATL and TB are no match for the Saints in their division
Carolina has some decent players on offense. Two good TEs, Steve Smith looks like his dominant self, Williams/Stewart (good one-two punch), and an underrated OL.

I'm not saying they are the Patriots or Saints but they are an above average offense.

Their problem is that defensively they flat out suck. Their best player (Beason) is out and Charles Johnson can't carry them by himself.
I really don't care how great Newton could be. If there is anyplace where it was proven you can have a QB throw all over the field but not win many championships it is in Green Bay. Or look west to San Diego.

Carolina got lucky with the new rookie wage scale. If this was 2010 they would have a large chunk of cap tied up in one player who more than likely will never win a Super Bowl.

Wow, were is that coming from? The kid has thrown for 800+ yards in his first 2 games. You don't think that is amazing? Judge QB's by win and loses unless they are rookies. In fact, I hold that opinion of all first year starters. First year starters are still learning how to win. Rodgers went 6 and 10 in his first year as a starter and how many games did the Colts win in Peyton's first year?
But a rookie QB who can throw for 400+ in his first two games ever (only 6 other QBs have ever had back to back 400+ yard games.....ever....and a few of them are HOF material)

A rook who can do that, against the SB champs, is something special...and there is every right to believe he very well could be in a SB someday and is worth a big contract.
And therein lies the rub...

You can't question the guy's tallant. He's already proven he CAN play at a big-time level. Whether he can do it continually and keep getting better even after there's enough film on him will depend on his character, smarts and work ethic. All of these things have been IMHO legitimately questioned based on his past actions. If he puts it together he could be special. If he gets lazy and entitled he'll be average. If I'm a Panther fan I'm certainly encouraged, though, and pleasantly surprised.

I figured he'd be a washout, but so far I am Rong. Way too early to have a definitive answer on that on the grand scale, obviously.
It is odd this hate for Newton. I'm by no means a "fan", and I get it - he made a mockery of the NCAA rules, but he's looked better than expected the first 2 weeks. Not sure why the angst of saying that.

I don't see anyone constructing a bust in Canton yet, just being able to admit that the kids looks better than many, if not all, thought. I thought we'd make him look silly all day. He made mistakes, but, if not for Newton, Green Bay wins by 20+ I'd guess.

Back to your two minutes hate.

  • Tampa should not be surprising anyone. They won 8 games against the top 10 of the draft last year and everyone had them in the playoff hunt this year. 8-8 looks about right for them.
  • Buffalo is stuck in a tough division, but they'll be fun to follow this year
  • Colts, Chiefs, Hawks and Queens are probably your first four draft picks next April. I could see any of the four pulling the trigger on Luck.
  • Cincy and Carolina will win more games than expected (5 or 6)
  • I don't care who they've played, Detroit's offense looks as good as advertised. 48 points is 48 points.
  • Saints/Bears affirmed what we thought about both of those teams. Bears have already missed more snaps to injury than they did all of last year, and will need to see more 3rd-string QBs and neutral site "road games" to sneak back into the playoffs. Luckily they already have one of the latter slated for London.
  • I too was wrong on the tallant. He's impressed me in that category. That said...it's way too early to make any judgements about his future accomplishments. But based on his past, I can't help but think his career will end very badly on a personal level. Just my belief; I was wrong before on him, one more time won't kill me I'm sure.
