I completely understand the agony of sitting through Kiper and Boomer for 4 hours, only to find out your favorite team won’t pick for at least another 20, but I learned long ago to defer to the man who has established himself as one of the two or three best in the world at running an NFL draft vs. my intense study of Yahoo articles and YouTube highlight reels.
If he trades down everyone will go WTF and then when see the deal he's gotten and then the players he picks then they will say BRILLIANT!

With the way this QB class is shaking out, there very well could be a lot of competition for jumping back into the end of round 1. Jacksonville and the NYJ are supposedly hot after Nassib, Buffalo likes Barkley, the Browns apparently like Geno Smith. It could be very interesting.
As it stands now, the Packers have eight draft choices, including a compensatory pick in the 5th round due to the loss of Flynn and Wells, netting only Saturday in return.

Round 1, Pick 26, #26 overall
Round 2, Pick 25, #55 overall
Round 3, Pick 26, #88 overall
Round 4, Pick 25, #122 overall
Round 5, Pick 26, #159 overall
Round 5, Pick 34, #167 overall (Compensatory Selection)
Round 6, Pick 25, #193 overall
Round 7, Pick 26, #232 overall

I fully expect Thompson to trade out of the first round to accumulate additional picks. Arguably no megastars this year, but plenty of quality guys available through at least the first three rounds. TT's biggest problem this year may be finding a trading partner, as other teams are considering moving down as well (Cowboys and Jets for example). Maybe he should approach the '9ers---they've stockpiled 13 picks. Eeker

Of course, leave it to TT to trade UP this year, throwing everyone off. I think he's a bit of a contrarian, and uses the element of surprise as part of his draft day strategy.

I was actually thinking of the 2008 draft. I don't normally watch much of the draft; just tune in every half hour or so try to get a handle on how long until the Packers' next pick. I was annoyed at seeing the first round pick had been traded, but of course Thompson's first pick in 2008 wound up being Jordy Nelson, so he obviously knew what he was doing.

(Well, his second pick was Brian Brohm. I guess not everybody is perfect.)

I hope and pray TT trades out but the real question is can he trade out. Everybody at the end of the 1st round must be thinking the same thing (except the Vagines, watch them package their two first rounders to move up and draft Geno Smith).
