Pretty sure he didn't.
If it's your database of totally incorrect football information, then put yourself down for 1993 and 1999. He took 5 years off in between. I think it was Barney Bussey and Brian Baschnagel who talked him into coming back to GB.
This is going to blow TD's mind

Rich Gannon played for Minnesota, Oakland, KC, and Washington. Not in GB.
Didn't McCarthy coach him in KC? I believe Gannon has credited McCarthy for reviving his career.
Gannon is a fascinating case study on the benefits of good coaching. McCarthy resurrected his career in KC. Gruden turned him into an MVP. Bill Callahan pissed all over the hard work of two fine QB coaches and the mojo held on for dear life until Gannon finally **** the bed, the headboard, and the nightstand in the SB.
In the end he had a better run than the guy he truly despised. Sean Salisbuy. It also proves it's damn near impossible to make a winner out of someone covered in Viking stink.
The year was 1998 when McCarthy resurrected Gannon's career in KC.
I remember Schottenheimer opting to start Grbac over Gannon in 97 or 98 in the playoffs which led to Gannon opting to go to Oakland because Gruden wanted him.
Wonder if MM and Gruden played a part in that move? Gannon outplayed Grbac in KC. Wonder if MM was pissed Marty started Grbac? KC lost that playoff game and Grbac played like crap.
I wonder if MM would be coaching SF today if they drafted Rodgers and not Smith?

Reminds me of Wade Phillips benching Flutie in the playoffs the game the Bills lost to the Titans in the game where they got the late kickoff return for a TD. Dang, I would like to have seen what Flutie may have done had he been the starter.
