Those 1980s Packers offenses were great.  The defense? uhh not so much but those teams were fun to watch.

I remember some t shirts from that era that said "you can beat the Packers but you can't lick our Dickey"

We've discussed this many times on this forum, but if Eddie Lee Ivery doesn't tear up his knee twice on that crappy Soldier Field turf, that version of the Packers would have had a lot more success.

So very true.  I don't remember exactly what year but wasn't it the very first game he played where he started out running all over the Bears and then got hurt.  Was it 1979 or 1980?

It seemed like after Ivery they really struggled for awhile to find anyone who could run the ball.

We were not at that game but we did go to Brown County Arena, a few days later, to a full house, to see the Milwaukee Bucks, with Bob Lanier, play an exhibition game with the Kansas Jayhawks. Midway through the game, Paul Coffman enters the arena, stage left. Every kid in the building rushed over to him to get an autograph. It was pretty cool to see.

When GB decides to retire #12, they should invite Dickey as well. He and those 80s teams, regardless of W/L, were a breath of fresh air after the putrid display from the G&G in the mid to late 70s.

I've beat that drum many times when people start complaining about the 80's Packers.  Watching that offense, and Lofton in particular, was what first made me a fan of the team as a kid.

I've posted this before in the past, but it deserves repeating:

During that 1983 season, Jim Belushi was doing a "special report" on the Weekend Update segment. The bit was about Russia attacking the US with nuclear weapons.
Their first target was Green Bay. "But, don't worry; Green Bay will fight back...because they are so good in the air!"

Easily my favorite SNL moment. And you know it had to kill Belushi, because he is a huge Bores fan.
