Walden got benched last week in the 2nd half for sucking in favor of Zombo. Zombo was a scratch (Healthy??) tonight which was a mild surprise.

Walden started the game tonight and was replaced by So'oto. Did he suck against the run again or get injured? I know the specific knock on Walden last week was his inability to hold the edge on running plays. Based on how the Bares ran the ball up our ass tonight I'm thinking it probably happened again.

YA - there is zero way you move Bishop outside. You think GB is getting run on off the edges? GB would be seriously gashed if Bishop was moved outside. The solution is to get Hawk off the field and put Smith in. Hawk always seems to be a step late on everything (similar to Peprah in pass defense). Smith playing next to Bishop would completely solidify the middle of the defense. Focus on Bishop during the Lions game - the guy flows so well to the play - really impressive to watch. Smith plays the same way - attacking, not reactive.

The edge opposite cmiii will not be solved this year. It was nice to see Vic get an opportunity last night (as did Lattimore). Not sure either guy did anything overly impressive. Zombo hasn't done much this year either.

To be honest, not having Pickett has been a major issue. Big grease almost always requires two blockers to have a successful running play his way. The DE spot opposite Pickett has also been a joke. Neal hasn't shown up at all. CJ Wilson and Jarius Wynn have both been more impactful than Neal. I hate to say it, but TT seriously whiffed in not re-signing Cullen Jenkins.

This is the difference in the run dfense- not the LBs. The 3/4 scheme requires big, wide guys that take up blockers up front to free the LBs to make plays. If those guys are on roller skates (as we have seen), the OL gets to the second level and creates cutback lanes as LBs get shielded off.

When Pickett returns (hopefully soon), the Packer run D will improve exponentially.

So when Bishop is responsible for dropping into coverage more how is that going to pan out? You just negated your run stopping ability as well as your pass coverage skills.

Bishop is a plugger. He is meant to blow up the last guy up the middle and make the sack or tackle. Bishop one on one outside doesn't have the speed and moves to beat a good LT straight up.

Walden sucks. Sick of seeing him watch the play go by and then plod after it. Dive at the guy, anything!

That's prety funny.

Walden was a 6th round pick of the Cowboys. What did you all expect?

I agree though, we need a serious upgrade there.

We can't have Frank Gore chewing up the clock in the playoffs while he rushes for 200+

I'm fairly certain the coaching staff will come up with something.

I don't know... Muir looked pretty good last night in spot play.

Replace him. Move Bishop outside, DJ Smith to Bishop's spot...

Bishop sucked last night too, though not as much as Hawk. The non-Matthews linebackers were all terrible. Bishop had a nice plug, which was probably the only non-Matthews highlight. Having Bishop in space would not do the defense any favors as that's his weakness. He's a short-area thumper.

I admittedly didn't stare at the defensive line last night to gauge how well each one played individually. However, when your defense gives up 199 rushing yards something isn't right.... and it normally starts up front. So, I have a hard time thinking ANY defensive lineman played very well last night. Except for Muir.. he was good in spots.
Both of you fellas are correct. Muir used to be a Packer (2007?) and was cut. He went onto to play a few seasons with the Colts and was cut by them as well. He was in GB last week for a tryout, wasn't signed and left GB.

Our good friend Music City commented that he watched Muir play in the game against the Bears last night and thought he looked good in limited action.
Last night it didnt look like Capers played much base at all. They were in the nickle package (2-4-5)for most of the game. That is a major mismatch against the run. So'oto got his chance to show something last night and really didnt do much with the chance. But he didnt make any major blunder's either.

Hawk and Bishop both had alot of tackles, each had a tackle for a loss. I think they could have played better but they were getting back into the flow of things after injuries.

Last nights game was a hard fought Bear - Packer game in the trenches with some hard hitting and tough football all night. I was pleasantly surprises by GB's toughness especially when playing a 2-4-5 against a 2 TE with a single back. Those 2 Dlineman( rotation ) played some tough football , Raji and Wilson both had a very good game.

It sucks that Gb does not have a "shut down defense" and opponents are racking up piles of yards. The defense is ranked in the middle of the pack in scoring which is more important than yardage. I came away from the Bear game with a positive attitude towards the defense leaning towards them rising to the occasion during the playoffs.

14-1 W/L record
515 points scored #1 in the NFL.
318 points against around #14 in the NFL

Things could be alot worse than they are right now. And with Pickett , Bulaga , Clifton and Jennings getting healed up things should get better. If GB were to lay an egg against the bares after the KC debacle I would be whining maybe but I thought last nights game was a good game for GB against their tough arch rival.

I am looking foward to seeing more of So'oto,Latimore (who is playing ST very well), Wilson and Wynn against the Lions. On offense the backup TE's, Saine and Cobb along with Flynn should see alot off playing time against the kitties also

I'll disagree on Bishop sucking last night. He made plays all over the field and while he didn't always get credit for the tackle, he would take out 2 blockers or turn the play to the step-slow Hawk & Peprah so they could get their plodding asses over to make the tackle.

Bishop may have been shaking off a little rust last night, but there are many times he is the best player on the field for the Pack. Watch him. He attacks. He flows to the ball and almost never gets caught by blockers - he takes that good of angles on plays. He anticipates where the hole is going to be for the RB and fills it. Simply awesome to watch. I firmly believe Bishop can be stacked up against Ray Lewis and Patrick Willis as the best ILB in football.

That's the problem. Bishop played his worst game and he was still one of the best players on defense.
