I think it's a legit question. If its been covered to death, then lock her up.

The popular choice would be Rodgers. Without his talent, leadership, and toughness there's no way we would have utilized all the talent on this offense. Not many QB's could lose their main go-to guy and still excel at the level he did this year.

Clay III was hugely missed in the 2nd half of the Washington game and all of the Miami game. He has been GB's only consistent pass rush for the entire season, and has become the face of the defense. They're quite simply a completely different unit with him in there.

Starks came on late in the year and provided the Packers with a legitimate running game that defenses needed to at least pay attention to. This opened up options in the passing game and made their play action that much more effective. Do you think we really would have made the run we did in the post season without this threat?

The play of Williams and Shields can't be overlooked as well. Can we forget how quality QB's torched GB in 2009 with Williams playing half the year and still coming on and Shields still in college? The play of these two guys has allowed Capers to be more aggressive with his blitz packages, and made other defenders on the team thrive.

There are probably others you could bring up, but this is at least a starting point for conversation. Team chemistry and coaching has been just as, if not more, important with this team too.

I would name Rodgers and Mathews Co-MVP's for the year. This team got where it did because of both offense and defense, and neither of those units is the same without those two players.

Mathews raised the level of the entire defense.

Rodgers is the face of the team.

The great part being, they're both just hitting their prime and there's no shortage of stars on the roster.
He hasn't put up the monster stats this year but I would have to agree it's Woodson.

His ability to play a "rover" DB position allows our LBs and DL to concentrate on getting after the QB and you have to account for him at all times on the field because he's so damn solid at making plays on the ball - or forcing teams into making mistakes.

He's also one of the smartest guys on the field at reading formations and plays.
Call me crazy but I am going with Shields. Before you laugh too hard consider this. IMO the biggest problem with our defense last year was that our nickel back sucked. This was the main reason why we got torched by good offenses last year.

With Shields that position is solidified which allows Woodson and Williams to make plays. In addition, he has shown himself to be a big playmaker himself (see NFCC Game).

I don't think we would be here without him.
