Bears, Lions or Vikings?

I think it's still the Lions.  Even though they lost Suh, they were the #1 defense against the run for most of last season.  Stafford has a lot of weapons.  Some "experts" think the Vikings will surprise some folks this year.  I am not worried about Minnesota or Chicago.

It's a little surprising how many experts are picking the Packers to win it all.  Apparently we surpassed Seattle in the off season in the NFC.  Many of the power rankings I have seen have Green Bay @ number one.

I'd be shocked if we didn't win the division in 2015.  12-4 should do it.

none of the above.

But the Vikings will surprise and be better than most think. Detoilet will be worse.

Pro Football Focus @PFF

Most passing yards lost due to drops since 2011:

1. Matthew Stafford 1,779

2. Tom Brady 1,527

3. Joe Flacco 1,331

4. Aaron Rodgers 1,267

DAS BOOT!

Love it!

I still think it's going to be Detoilet.    I am not convinced the queens are going to be anything substantial.  Their record against winning teams speaks for itself and their schedule is tougher this year.  AFAICR

Lions losing Suh, the heart of their defense is huge. Don't forget they also lost Nick Fairly. Not sure how much Ngata has left, plus he's not the nasty presence Suh was.

I think the Lions will be much the same on offense although I like what Abdullah brings in the open field.

I've  always been impressed with the way Mike Zimmer coaches defense. Not sure the Vikings have the horses like Cinty did though. Sorry, Bridgewater doesn't scare me.

Bears, well I think John Fox is a nice guy and all....but, uh, well, they should get a nice draft pick out of this.

I keep hearing that Teddy Bridgewater is the second coming of Johnny Unitas, Dan Marino and Joe Montana. Peterson is going to be allowed to use bull whips against opposing linebackers. I just hope we can keep within 30 points of them.

Fox is an upgrade and I like like both Caldwell and Zimmer. Lions remain the biggest threat but as long as AR is under center the gap between the teams is significant and don't see the Packers really being challenged.

I think it depends on what kind of D we field. If we are bad against the run then Minnesota will be a threat. If our pass D struggles then Detroit will be a threat. If our pass rush can't pressure the QB then Detroit and Chicago will give us issues. Cutler and Stafford crumble under pressure and Minny isn't beating us if Peterson doesn't run for 150+ yards.

Adrian Peterson has had plenty of monster games against GB. He's averaged 120 yards and 5.6 yards per carry in 14 games. He's won 4 of them.

Hand gnasing over a pissed off AP is kind of pointless.

Detroit: Their defense should still be good and they can move the ball. They may win in Detroit.

Minnesota: Trying to be "Seattle East", but don't have the horses. The only position they're clearly better than Seattle at is Center, though I'd take Barr over Irvin also.

Chicago: Blame Cutler all you want, but the defense is by far their biggest problem. Fox will help, but they don't have the talent.

CHI best shot to beat GB is in WK1.  At home, season opener with GB playing an unscouted D in whatever Fox throws out there.  Plus we're down 2 starting DL's.   It would be a cheap win for them but it would be their best chance.  The game at Lambeau should be another rout.

If you listen the to the rube Queens fans they are going to be the biggest NFL dynasty ever.  And the pundits are nuzzling their nuts quite a bit.  All that being said I think they will be a solid team this year but still about a year away.

I also will go with the Lions.  Pretty solid D and that passing game can be scary good

As for the Bears?  I think Fox is a great hire for them but there is the Cutler factor and the D isnt that great.  I see them as a 5-11 team

Lynndickey, I am also surprised so many people are picking the Packers to win it all.  Until the Pack can beat Seattle I still think they are the conference favorite.

Not worried about Minnesota, but I do think Bridgewater is probably the best QB they have fielded since an interested Favre in '09. Also Mike Zimmer is a good coach and and they should be better on D, so I'm not resting on them. They don't have the talent to compete for a SB, but I think they could give GB some problems. Ultimately I will never have faith in Norv Turner out-coaching anyone, but I don't think we will walk over them like teams fielded by CKA and Les Frazier.
I think it's the Vikings for sure. The Lions lost a lot, and Chicago's defense sure looks terrible. But as mentioned by a few, the Vikings getting Peterson back and motivated with their passing game weapons- Wallace and Patterson and healthy Rudolph- I think they'll be improved. They're a ways from Green Bay, but they could sneak up and be a playoff team if they get some good health and a few bounces. This is a stable group it seems. The one thing that may go against them is playing outside still.

Here's the thing I love about Minny and expectations.

When it all goes to **** the failure is going to make the grand opening of the aviary graveyard immensely enjoyable.

As long as Johnson and Stafford are on the Loins, they will remain the biggest threat. This duo always gives them at least a puncher's chance, because one big play can wipe out a good defensive effort.

They're also likely the most solid defense of our division opponents. I still don't see them being able to stop ARod & co., but they would have a better chance than the Bores or Queens.

I just read Silverstein's chat page in the MJ paper here's his pick;

A: Tom Silverstein - I think Minnesota could be really good, Andy. They've got some fresh talent on defense with Harrison Smith, Anthony Barr, Sharif Floyd, Everson Griffin, Xavier Rhodes. They are built to give the Packers problems. Throw in Peterson and the addition of Wallace and they're going to contend. The key will be Bridgewater. But he doesn't have to be great. Not with Peterson in the backfield. I think they're the Packers' biggest challenger.
