15 minutes ago I learned a great kid in my daughters HS lost his mom, dad, and 8 year old brother today when they got trapped in a wildfire in Butte CA.
He's all alone now. Just like that. His family is gone. Gone. His entire family is gone.
I did'n now him at all. And all I want to do is hug him and tell him things are going to be alright. 16 years old. I haven't cried this hard in years. He lost the family he thought would be arond forever 5 days ago. 4 days ago. 3 days ago.

Devastating. I can't imagine the pain he is going through, and all the uncertainty. Go ahead and search him out Chili. Give him that hug and see what you might do for him. That could do both of you some, or a lot, of good.
Turns out I'm not getting the chance to give him that hug.
When I got home from the trip to Europe tonight my daughter told me the FBI and local police arrested him in school today.
He drove to the family cabin. Murdered his mom, dad, and brother. Burned the cabin to the ground that ignited the wildfire and then drove home to play the grieving victim.
My daughter has 2 classes with him. Sat in class with a triple homicide stone cold murderer for two weeks. Felt sorry for him.
No one is really safe anymore.
