He won't win and he'll use it as motivation to win another Super Bowl. What hurts him most is last years performance (historic, and based on stats, this year won't match it), and Manning and AP coming back from injuries (which shouldn't factor into the MVP discussion at all).
Manning & AP. One will win MVP & one will win comeback player.

They should both win both awards. CO-MVP & CO-Comeback

Rodgers is lucky he has such good receivers. Big Grin
I think it's easy:

1. Manning as Comeback Cat: Who comes back with a season like this (team and personal) after a year layoff after that kind of a neck injury?

2. AP as MVP. Playing with maybe the worst QB in the league and the team turns around from a 3-win season to maybe 9 or 10 wins. Add in the 6 YPC (a full yard more than beast mode) and then the ACL injury last Christmas. Easy choice.

Brady and AR have had MVP-like seasons but this is an odd year.

I think it is easy too.

3. AR is SB MVP.
It's not easy being king.
It's good to be king.
SB > MVP
SB MVP > MVP
AR > MVP, wouldn't trade him for anyone else in the NFL. that pretty much makes it for me.
now as for that fashion parade the NFL puts on once a year...
GO PACK GO! ... which makes it dawn on me, DSD > MVP (Double Sweep Division)
Name that tune...Without cheating.

Behold the King
The King of Kings
On your knees dog
All hail

Bow down to the
Bow down to the King
Bow down to the
Bow down to the King

(Skip)

Into the dirt
His will be done
Now feel your fear
There can be only one

All hail
All hail the King
On your knees
On your knees for the King

The King of Kings
There is only one

(Verses are missing) start & end only
Rodgers set the bar impossibly high last year. Actually, it's hard to say it will be equaled. It would take a very special set of circumstances to come together again, and the variables of injury, team changes, and performance can't be predicted.
Arod himself hasn't played as well this year compared to the previous one. Whatever the reasons behind it, he's been just a tick off on accuracy this year.

None of this precludes his MVP consideration; rather, it's a statement to just how damn good he is.

But, but, but... Drew Brees had a better season last year, since Payton made certain to keep throwing the ball while up late in games to get Brees the TD and yardage marks.

Wink
If his downfield accuracy was a touch better this year he could have made it a whole lot closer.

Peyton should just get a lifetime achievmant MVP and be done with it. Best leader in the history of the sport, imo.

I hope Peterson gets it. The whole game is designed around making the QB successful these days. Even with that Ponder is horrendous. You can't ride a RB in the 2012 NFL and somehow the Vikings did it.
Peterson would be good as MVP, mostly because I'm sick of the QB fetish in the media and front offices. Is it a very important position? Yes. Should every other player on the team get screwed out of the spotlight because of that? No.

Besides, if AP gets the MVP, that means there's nowhere left for him to go but down. I'm calling it: Madden Cover, IR'd in camp next year, signs ten year contract with Philly. Suck on that "diehard" Pack fans! wave3
rodgers
371-552 (67.2%) 4295 yds 39 TD 8 INT 108.02

manning
400-583 (68.6%) 4659 yds 37 TD 11 INT 105.85

Brady
401-637 (63.0%) 4827 34 TD 8 INT 98.67

Rodgers should be the MVP, and All-Pro, but Manning's narrative will make the voters all warm and fuzzy for Peyton. Never mind that Peyton played in the weakest division in football and Aaron played in the toughest.
Manning's team had a better record and has the #1 seed. Brady's team has a better record and the #2 seed. Peterson put his sh!tty offensive team on his back the last 8 games and nearly broke the rushing record.

AFC West
Denver 13-3
San Diego 7-9
Oakland 4-12
Kansas City 2-14

NFC North
Green Bay 11-5
Minnesota 10-6
Chicago 10-6
Detroit 4-12

13-3, but they had one of the easiest schedules in the league. 20th in strength of schedule.
Manning took a team that lucksacked their way to an 8-8 record last year and took them to HFA throughout. They won 11 straight games and I don't think any of them were closer than 7 points.

My hunch is they'll give it to Peterson but Manning should win it. Maybe they'll rig it so they have co-MVP.

Manning should not win it, in my opinion. Rodgers was a little better, and faced more adversity during the season.

Rodgers put up slightly better numbers with his #1 receiver, Greg Jennings, missing 8 full games. His #2 receiver, Jordy Nelson, missed 5 games, and came out after one catch in the first Minnesota game, and didn't return. So in essence, he missed 6 games. That's 14 games his best two receivers missed. Then the guy that was his go to receiver, Randall Cobb, missed today. By the end of the season, Rodgers was the ball off to the Packer's 4th and 5th string running back. Don't get me started on the musical chairs that was his offensive line. He played in a much tougher division, and had a more difficult strength of schedule.

Again, the other teams in the AFC West: 13-35
The other teams in the NFC North: 24-24

Strength of schedule:

Packers 12th
Broncos 20th

Peyton Manning had his primary two weapons, Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker, all season. Both played 16 full games. Add all that up, and Rodgers had a tougher road to travel than did Manning. Peyton was great, but Rodgers was just a little better.
