Cue up Alec Baldwin and "always be closing"

The ineptitude of this team in close games is truly mind boggling.  I thought it was a Bielema thing but since Andersen arrived he's 0-4 in games decided by less than a TD.

I can't remember a Badgers game where they got outscored 21-0 in one half of football and looked that bad doing so.   They had the game won until our punter started shanking 25 yarders and our idot offensive coordinator decided to call passing plays all day.  It's like they forgot they were ahead by 17 and even worse when they gave up the lead and went into panic mode they started to play like they were down 17.

This game now takes the cake over the fail Mary M$U and O$U last second collapses and what was looking like a promising start to the season is now just another "could shoulda" moment.

**** Andy Ludwig

Watched some of the game again (cause I hate myself).  Tanner was a different QB in the second half then he was in the first.  I think this came from two factors; from the beginning, the receivers sucked.  Bad routes, slow, no separation.  By the second half, with little hope of a guy being open and the game getting away, dude got happy feet bigtime.  I get that the receivers suck, but you have to keep your poise.

I have no idea if Tanner was wrong or Love was wrong, but who the hell is calling those bombs anyway?  Bucky was owning the line of scrimmage, and LSU was creeping up to stop MIII, but why must you counter with the slowest developing plays with receivers who suck?  Throw some crossing routes where the linebackers have vacated (on play action).  Cripes that pissed me off.

No depth on defense either.  Some nice talent, but no depth.  Can GA fix that in two years will be his mark.  Next year will be his last with Bret's boys.

I don't like the calling for heads or guys need to be shot talk in this thread. Gary Anderson's job is not in jeopardy. Nor is the OC's. The truth is until their QB play improves, they're not an elite program. The had their shot to get in that conversation last night. That ship sailed, but be glad that the Badgers have taken the step to play on these stages. You want that talent? That's how to get it. That's how your recruit it.

In the meantime, unless there's a marked improvement, they need to really consider the freshman. Give him a shot, because you're going nowhere with Mac and Stave. It's sad, too- Gordon is not the kind of talent that shows up every day.
I came away impressed with Trotter and Landisch at LB.   Trotter is a thumper and Landisch is very athletic and active.

The receivers are what they are.  Love has a love of ability but is unproven.  Wheelwright -  what's up with him?

The McEvoy move is a double whammy because he actually played well at safety lags year and his replacement (Figaro) is basically a rookie.

The D played extremely well until the two DL injuries and then they were gassed
Well the good news is it explains why he wasn't used in the second half.  I saw the Andersen presser today and clearly he is either pissed or annoyed that he was even asked the question

Yo Gary - maybe if you hadn't choked away the lead people wouldn't be asking so many questions.  Good teams usually don't get outscored 21-0 in a little over a quarter.

Man I do love Bucky and I will always be there rooting for them but man it wears on me them losing all the big games.  It always seems that they find a way to pee down their legs in big games.  OSU the last few years, bowl games, MSU a couple of years ago, and Saturday night. All that being said though I do think that they are headed in a nice direction and I do like their talent and how they played their hearts out.  Hopefully Anderson can keep up getting better talent and I look forward to the rematch with LSU.

Who drew up a game plan that allowed the team to throw 23 passes when they had a double digit lead for much of the game?

They could have run the read option about 10 more times IMO. Not enough designed runs for the QB if his legs are supposed to be the difference between him and Stave.

Now they'll pound on the likes of Western Illinois for the rest of the season and everything will be fine and dandy until they get exposed in a bowl game again.

Yes JJSD...they did that with Bollinger and that turned out okay.  Of courses, he had Dayne for some of it...

And FreeSafety, that is what is most irritating...if Gordon was hurt, they still had Clement and plenty of other decent backs.  No reason to pass like they did.  That was absolutely the worst play calling I can remember.

Stave must really look bad in practice if there was no thought of putting him in during the second half at LSU. I was watching that game thinking that the only chance we had when we got the ball back was to run a trick play or just punt the ball and hope that LSU fumbled a snap. The announcers kept saying how there was no separation with the WRS, but McEvoy missed the TE and the RBs in the flat a few times. At least Stave could have gone through his progressions and dump the ball off underneath. Did McEvoy even scan the field? It just seemed like he locked onto one guy and if he wasn't open he threw the ball as far as he could deep.

Why didn't they try a screen pass? A WR bubble screen? Something?

WTF is going on in Madison.  I almost agree, let some of the youngest guys play and take your lumps.  That was the worst display of QB play I might have ever seen with the UW offense (yes, I said EVER).   If Stave wants to transfer (I like that theory btw) then good. go.

Now you have Coach saying the receivers rang rong routes and the receiver coach saying they didn't??

JFC  the honeymoon is over Anderson.  Get your **** together.
