The podcast will be available later today on their website... I captured some of the questions/answers.

On the Draft?
Woodson: evident we needed extra push… excited to see the help coming in. It was really music to my ears.

RE: pick of Heyward, what will you do to teach him to be a NFL CB?
Woodson: Based on highlights I’ve seen – great instinct, one of the things you can’t teach. Willing to make the play… plays with confidence… gets right back in the mix after a negative play… what I will do is show him how to play in the NFL, meaning be a professional – how to deal with the schedules, you’re not in college anymore.

What about a move to Safety?
Woodson: Need to know what the other CBs can do with regards to the CB position. Can they make the plays? Can they take over the role… not opposed to moving to S, but need to be sure the CB position is solidified.

Nick Collins, should he try to play?
Woodson: It hurts to lose Nick the player… he’s like a little brother to me… like me he’s been playing since 6/7 yr old… tough decision, retire or try to play… don’t know what I would do… very tough decision… he will have a long thought process / sleepless nights trying to decide knowing the risks

Lots of focus and talk about concussions, any concern there?
Woodson: Big concern for everyone involved in the game. Players, coaches, etc… been playing as long as I have and so many of us have, we have sustained a lot of hits and seeing what has happened / is happening to so many it is (honestly) scary. Jr Seau was well known so this really hit home for everyone who plays the game.

Life after football, you have outside interests, not every player does. Thoughts / concern there?
Woodson: Many feel that the money they make in the NFL will be enough to satisfy them after the game. But spending, bad investments, etc… put them in a hole when they leave the game. All that money comes in a short period of time, average player in the league for 3 years. When the games stop, the money stops. Many don’t have plan for after they stop playing to have some income.

You went to the White House correspondence dinner – Obama jokes were good, your history with him – what was that like?
Woodson: Great to be a part of it… stars from the media, Hollywood, politics. Was a lot of fun, Prez did a good job with his jokes. Even saw Newt laughing at Barack’s jokes.

Does politics interest you?
Woodson: Don’t think so… politics kind of scares me a little bit. Got to sit in during one of the House votes and it got a little heated in there.

Clifton & Nick are gone… some talk about keeping Driver or not… if Driver gets released AR12 will be longest tenured Packer and then you and BigGrease came the year after… any concern about vet leadership?
Woodson: No, we have a strong vet group. Then they brought in Saturday, I’m still there… feel like we have the right mix of players… You don’t have a lot of veterans, but you have the right veterans… our coaches are 2nd to none in getting guys ready to play and teaching the position.

Good stuff and thanks for posting. The combo of Charles and the coaches puts GB in a great position to develop Hayward and McMillian and any of the UDFAs too
True, but I think he would've moved on if he had Tavaris Jackson as a backup

At some point TT would have moved on, but without Rodgers, I don't see him moving on right after Favre takes us to the NFC Championship in 2007. That's up there with the hardest decisions a GM has made in the history of professional sports.
No doubt it was difficult... but he'd spent nearly the entire off-season preparing for life without Brett. Since Brett's "retirement" press conference, the draft, all the OTA's, and the season preparation activities the team does were all done with the mindset that the face of the team (by his own decision and with his refusals of requests to return) was GONE. Then July rolls around, and suddenly he wants to come back, and expects to just walk right in and pick up where he'd left off. It would have been more than just a lost season... they'd STILL be trying to recover from that fiasco. The whole team would have been disrupted for a very long time. As it was, there was one season of adjustment. And that was a LOMBARDI ago!
what did they do with Favre's locker-I know that TT, MM and Murphy wanted to give it to him as a good gesture and Favre mocked them. ( I thought it was a great gesture) I think they should refit it with some plumbing and use it as a port-a-potty for tailgaters at Lambeau. Charge a dollar to use and help with some expenses. Probably pay for another expansion in a year or two.

Apparently Thompson is a big fan of cartoons, Looney Tunes in particular.

Surely Rodgers provided a safe landing spot as noted, but the decision was already a forgone conclusion...

As he did on an appearance on Green & Gold Today earlier this month, Woodson also discussed the possibility of moving to safety following the release of three-time Pro Bowler Nick Collins.

“I’ve heard all the reports about moving to safety and all this, but I don’t think there’s any more I can do on the football field than I already do,” Woodson said. “I think the only thing that would ever change is just the title, from being a corner to a safety. But I’m a football player. I can do anything on that football field and they can put me anywhere. And they know that. All the talk about, ‘Can he play safety?’ I kind of already play safety. So it wouldn’t be that big of a jump.”
