Yep.

I say Russell just becouse he was #1 overall and was paid alot more money the Leaf. But Leaf burn out had more fireworkers to it.

I voted for Leaf because - unless I missed something - Leaf plyed both football and life bad while Russell just played football bad.

Just give it some time. Addiction to sizzurp manifests itself in its own sweet time.

Russell. Got paid a hell of a lot more money, but didn't want to work to make it.

Russell, he was the #1 and completely useless. Leaf was the #2 pick and more of a turd in real life.

Tom Cable, when trying to convince Al Davis he wasn't working, gave Jamarcus a blank DVD (in front of Al) and told Jamarcus the game plan was on it. A day later, when Tom asked Jamarcus what he thought of the game plan? Jamarcus' response? "Looks good coach! I'm on board with it."

Jamarcus was benched immediately & then cut at the end of the season. The fact nobody picked him up to even have a "look-see" is more telling than anything.

Dudes a complete piece of garbage. (not saying Leaf isn't) HOF talent & 10 cent head. Could throw the football through a brick wall. I'm sure it won't be long before we see him claiming bankruptcy too.

I picked Russell thinking a black guy had more tallant therefore more bust.

I voted For Russell as the worst because Leaf could at least point to career ending injury; (tore a tendon in his throwing wrist) the only thing Russel ever tore was the saftey wrapping off a syrup bottle

I'd go with Leaf simply because Peyton Manning was taken right before him, and San Diego passed on a number of other guys like Charles Woodson, Kyle Turley, Fred Taylor, Greg Ellis, and Takeo Spikes that were taken in the first 15 picks.

Russell was a classic reach pick by Oaktown

I can't help but to think Leaf's problems originated from a crossed wire or a short-circuit somewhere, and he didn't stand a chance under the pressures he was subjected to.

I'd pick ryan Leaf as the greater bust. If Jamarcus Russel had been available when the Packers made their first selection, even if they didn't have quality quarterbacking in place, they would have said "No thanks". Most of the NFL would also have passed. Al Davis had his own way of looking at things. Ryan Leaf was widely considered a sure thing.
San Diego gave up 2-3 high draft picks to move up and get him.

Billick gave Russell his highest grade...EVER!

True story....

I'm standing at the Radio City Music Hall entrance before the 2007 draft. Speaking to a Raider fan and asking him which player he wanted the Raiders to take since they had #1 overall. "The QB" was his answer. I went on to say, "Calvin Johnson is the best football player in this draft. It's a huge mistake to take Russell. The Raiders will pay for it for at least 5 years if they take Russell."

...and the rest is history.

The guy had the talent, no question. So what Billick is talking about is Russell's pure ability to play football. What Billick doesn't mention is "character". Character should also go into your rating somewhere & I'm guessing the Ravens have adjusted their thinking from simply looking for a player with talent. Hundreds if not thousands of players didn't make it in the NFL because there is more to playing the game than just on-field talent.

I think the biggest reason Russell is the biggest bust of all time is the money. Russell got 30 million guaranteed...30 million. The money, combined with the fact that he showed absolutely zero progress, makes him a bigger bust. Had Leaf gotten 30 million guaranteed I would have said they were equal because Leaf was a psycho, but Russell takes the cake.

The Raiders passed on AP, which should've been the pick at the time.

BTW, word is that the Dolphins have been talked about moving up to #3 for the kid from A @ M. He has impressed with his workouts in shorts. Amazing, considering the guy did squat this past year when they were a favorite to make it to the conference title game in the Big 12. Shermie strikes again!
