And I like it...

Green Bay - Packers G Josh Sitton had some choice words for the Detroit Lions, their defensive line and their coaches Tuesday.

During a radio appearance on WSSP 1250 in Milwaukee, Sitton called the Lions' defensive line "dirtbags" and "scumbags" when former Packer Gary Ellerson, one of the radio show hosts, asked him if the Lions would try to take out QB Aaron Rodgers if he were playing Thursday.

"Absolutely," Sitton said. "They go after quarterbacks. Their entire defense takes cheap shots all the time. That's what they do, that's who they are. They're a bunch of dirtbags or scumbags. That's how they play. That's how they're coached.

"That starts with their frickin' coach. The head coach, (Jim) Schwartz, he's a (expletive), too. I wouldn't want to play for him. It starts with him and their D-coordinator and D-line coach. They're all just scumbags and so is the D-line."

Here is the PFT story.

I think this is a message to Packers fans not to expect Rodgers back until his shoulder is heeled enough to take a pounding.

Detroit is falling to the Queen level in being a dirty team. That is something I can say about the current Bears organizations they play clean and hard.

Oh my I wrote this  without knowing what BearNDesert said, I take it back.

Sitton knows our current starting QB is a guy who was rejected by three other teams this year, right? And that his backup is not a world-beater?

Personally, Turnip, I thought Detroit fell far below the Queens on the dirty scale a long time ago when they hired Schwartz. The Queens are just talkers with a bare trophy case, while the Lions are dirty with a bare SB case.

I don't know what to think, but I personally like Sitton's comments. People might take it as motivation for Detroit, but like Sitton says you have to "take it to them." Some of this attitude has been missing from this team and part of me likes hearing Sitton's frankness. What will matter in the end is if GB can back it up tomorrow. If they can't then the remarks don't mean squat. For the umpteenth time, the season starts tomorrow?!

I like Sitton's strategy. He's getting inside their brain. like Schwartz, they're more likely to pull some crap rather than to use this as a way to focus. Also, I'll bet the refs will be more vigilant about the cheap shots...

I love it!

1 - It's the truth and everyone knows it.
2 - It highlights the problem going into the game.  Zebras and NFL will be watching extra close.

3 - I don't buy into it motivating the Lions.. This game is for 1rst place, they are motivated already.

Schwants is the classic fake tough guy.  The guy who whispers to his buddies to hold him back before he acts like he's going to jump all over someone else.  In essence, he's a coward.  I hope he stays in Detoilet for many years, because if they got themselves an actual good coach that team would be really tough to handle.

As it stands, they're the dummest team in the NFL and much like other teams knew Bert Faver was going to throw them a couple of potential INTs every game, Detoilet is going to shoot themselves in the foot with pure stupidity at least once or twice tomorrow.  Same as they do every week.  Imagine what their record would be if they weren't so freaking dum?

Good on Sitton for putting these dinks on the defensive in the eyes of the zebras.

Also there is no downside to this.  He basically called out the refs as well.  All that can happen is either the Lions tone down their aggressive thug impulses, or we get a boatload of automatic first downs.  Win-win.

McCarthy at Wednesday press conference:  "Well, I’ll say this about Josh Sitton’s comments: They definitely don’t reflect how we go about our business here. It was discussed with the football team."

"I've been around too long to take that bait," Schwartz said. "The game's going to be played by players on the field, and it's going to be played with actions, not with words. I think those comments just stand on their own; we just let them be, and we're not going to take the bait on stuff like that."

This whole thing maybe the Packers way of putting a little heat on the NFL to keep a close watch on the Lions. MM did not say the lions play dirty but  he got to agree with the premises.  Hopefully the end result of this is that the refs may keep a closer eye on the Lions tactics.

Ummmm. Are you talking about the Packers?

Sitton said what the NFL knows. Detroit has a talented defense with zero discipline. It's a reflection of their moron coach who's to stupid to realize his tough guy strategy is holding them back from being one of the better NFL teams.

Screw them and their coach. Glad Josh said what he did and that he said it before the game and not afterward.
