The backdrop for Wednesday night's edition of "SportsCenter" might look pretty familiar.
The ESPN flagship news-and-highlights show will originate from the Kohl Center after No. 2 Wisconsin's men's basketball game against No. 4 Duke.
John Buccigross and Kevin Connors will anchor the broadcast from the court once the game finishes.
Badgers running back Melvin Gordon is scheduled to join the show ahead of the football team's Big Ten championship game Saturday against Ohio State in Indianapolis.
But the focus, naturally, will be on what takes place Wednesday night in the highly anticipated match-up between top-five college basketball teams.
"We are there to capture the energy and excitement following a big game," ESPN "SportsCenter" senior coordinating producer Michael Shiffman said. "We think opportunities like this bring us closer to our fans."
It's the first part of a big week in Madison for ESPN.
On Thursday, Buccigross and former Wisconsin hockey star Blake Geoffrion will talk college hockey at a 7 p.m. event at the Nitty Gritty, 223 N. Frances St.
Buccigross, the network's resident hockey guru and lead college hockey broadcaster, and Geoffrion will call Friday's Badgers hockey game against Penn State on ESPNews.
It's the debut as TV analyst for Geoffrion, the 2010 Hobey Baker Award winner as college hockey's top player.
