Way too young to remember him as a player, but not too young to appreciate his fine humor and witticisms, no matter how intentional it was.
Godspeed.
All time hits leader in the WS. Love Yogi quotes and this one seems appropriate.

Saw this the first time this morning. Very nice story.
Vin Scully story of Yogi Berra talking to Hank Aaron at the plate: Yogi: "Your bat label is upside down" Aaron: "I'm not up here to read."

I wonder if this kind of friendly exchange happens with today's players?
Man.
RIP Yogi.
I always thought he was underappreciated...as a retro-fan of 50's baseball (mostly due to card collecting and You Tube) I always told anybody who'd listen that he was a better player than he was a quote-machine.
Making it to 90 does not suck.
I guess he got to the fork in the road....and took it.
RIP Yogi!
At work there was a guy who talked like Yogi - saying things that came in an unexpected way. Once he referred to an "invisafax". I'm not sure of the spelling but that is what it sounded like. I asked him what that was. He replied it was a fax someone said they sent that he didn't get. I once told him he sounded like Yogi Berra. He said maybe that is because I am related to him - and he told me how - but I have forgotten over the years. He pulled out a picture of Yogi and a picture of himself at roughly the same age. The resemblance was striking. Anyway, when someone mentions Yogi Berra - I think of this guy - maybe because he is the real living version of Yogi I can relate to. I smile and sometimes laugh when I reminisce about our conversations. I would have been fun to meet and talk with Yogi.
One that always made me smile, he told the person making a pizza pie for him that "You had better cut that into 4 slices, because I do not think that I could eat 6".
We think of Yogi as a folk hero and not the great player he was. Check out his numbers!

Also, take a gander at how rare he struck out.
