Not 'hate', just amused as times in people's thought process/objectivity.
When Young is in there we might score.
With Harrell, not likely.
We're fishing now folks not cuttisng bait.
If Rodgers goes down the Packers are toast regardless, but I suppose Young's an interesting reclamation project as, unlike Harrell, he has more upside than one of us as well as being a better scout team read-option prospect.

FIFY
I would say this is the case for most teams. What the Packers (and most teams) need is someone that can come in for a series or two, a quarter or two or even a game or two because the starter is injured and not lose. The Packers have enough talent on both sides of the ball to pull out some victories if Rodgers were out. But I don't think they could afford to lose him for any length of time.
Michael Rodney β@PackerUpdate 26s QB Colt McCoy available again. Could wind up with Jets or Bills - although getting beat out by Seneca Wallace has to be a huge red flag.
TJ Lang picked off Coleman in drills today. Packers cut the wrong QB? Didn't cut enough QB's?
I agree if AR is out the season is lost. But from what I've seen Harrell isn't getting it done, I'd rather roll the dice on a guy who looks like he can make an occasional play. Gotta go w/ Young this season.
McCarthy: Thought Harrell was developing, getting better. But want to go in another direction with the other 2 quarterbacks.
Sorry Mike, didn't see the improvement.

What a load of BS MM is dishing out. The reason Harrell was cut is because HE WASN'T DEVELOPING. He looks the same as he did his first year.
MM is handling the release with dignity. No reason to slag the guy on the worst day of his professional career.
Uhhh....You're never going to hear the QB guru trash a guy that's been in our program for 3 years.
If Harrell can catch on somewhere else, good for him. We all know why Harrell was cut. No need to trample on his career.
MM is being smart. Even if there is some disgust with the lack of progress of Harrell after the investment they've put in him he will never show it. It is in his interest to maintain his reputation of developing QBs that might need some schooling. Kicking them on the way out does not serve that purpose nor will it do anything to attract those with raw talent to come.
But his arm was getting stronger every year. A couple more off-seasons and he would have been throwing it like Elway.

WILDE: Shouldβve known better
By Jason Wilde on 8/25/13When it came to Harrell, there were always more explanations for the lack of shining moments than there were shining moments themselves. And I was as guilty as anyone. He was always playing with substandard wide receivers, or behind an offensive line that stunk. This year, there was Marshall Newhouse whiffing on John Abraham for a sack/fumble against Arizona. There were the drops by D.J. Williams and Tyrone Walker in St. Louis. There was Jermichael Finley failing to hang onto a would-be touchdown Friday night.
To his undying credit, Harrell was never the one making those excuses. Just the rest of us.
Do you remember anyone having to make excuses for Matt Hasselbeck when he was doing his annual Mr. August routine behind Brett Favre in 1999 and 2000? Do you remember anyone having to make excuses for Matt Flynn when he was clearly outplaying Brian Brohm in 2008 and 2009?
No.
The truth is that as good as McCarthy, Clements and McAdoo are at developing quarterbacks, maybe they did all they could with Harrell. Perhaps heβs at his ceiling. Sure, he signed too late in 2010 to get a full offseason program, and the lockout wiped out the 2011 offseason β more explanations. But he had plenty of work last year and this year, and in Vince Young, those same coaches have a more naturally gifted player with real NFL experience (31-19 as a starter) to work with. continue
They did what needed to be done. Crosby is next.
ANY POSSIBILITY AT ALL......
....that the Packers did a "wink and a nod" with Harrell and said they want Young on the team to practice against the 'read option' for the first couple of weeks?? And then when Vince shows he's not really grasping the Packers' offense, the cut him loose and bring back Harrell??
Any possibility at all???
Probably not.
Good piece by Wilde. The view that the QB guru would work his magic and the light would suddenly go on with Harrell was widespread and even MM bought into it.
yep, I was as wrong as any of them. Harrell never really improved a bit. Since they kept him around this long I was expecting to see it this fall. He didn't show so he got shown the door - good. Talk about having a golden opportunity and not being able to cut the mustard.
Harrell improved his arm strength but he never improved on reading D's. For him it was always the 1st option or none at all.
To his undying credit, Harrell was never the one making those excuses. Just the rest of us.
He would have been a fool to make any comments at all. The guy got three years to play the role of an NFL quarterback. The last guy this unfit for a role was Gary Cherone:
Disagree...
1A and 1B?
Harrell took a picture of the Packer receivers on his plane home so he could stare at them. We all know why he got cut, and so do the stupid reporters trying to bait MM into another "controversy".
"The easiest way to get to Palookaville is to make a right on Lombardi Ave then turn left at the rock that looks like a bear, then make a right at the bear that looks like a rock."
Uhhh....You're never going to hear the QB guru trash a guy that's been in our program for 3 years.
This is what I was thinking.
