A bit of a re-rack, but wanted to start a thread in commemoration of the season's start tonight:

The Bucks start tomorrow night against the Knicks in what is the most promising season for this team in a long, long time.

The Bucks feature a nucleus of players 26 or younger that might be the envy of the league. The oldest of that group, Michael Carter-Williams, is expected to lead this team as a PG capable of landing a triple double on a nightly basis. Monroe (26), Henson (25), Antetokoumpo (20), Parker (20), and Middleton (24) make up a long, deep, young core that is a long ways from their best basketball. They have acquired a solid bench of veteran Guards to complement them in Bayless, Vasquez, and Mayo. Copeland, Plumlee, O'Bryant, and 1st round rookie Vaughn round out a bench that will get plenty of chances to earn PT.

A big factor will be shooting- with young slashers up and down the lineup, they need shooters to hit 3s off reversals and secondary breaks. The Bucks were one of the best defensive teams in the NBA last year, so that must continue for them to make another jump in 2015-16.

Jason Kidd starts his second season as Bucks head coach. His first season proved his ability to mold a young team to improved play. They parlayed his tutoring of Brandon Knight into a deadline deal for Carter-Williams, giving the Bucks a stronger defensive look while sacrificing Knight's ability to knock down tough, big shots. The results saw the team stumble down the stretch, but give the Bulls all they could handle in a 6 game playoff series that was one made shot from going 7 games.

The Bucks lead the NBA in steals, but were in the bottom 5 in rebounding. They fielded one of the worst offenses in the league last year.

The Bucks will look to run more this year, emphasizing the importance of shot-making in the secondary break. The Bucks share the ball well, ranking 7th a year ago in assists. With an upgrade at the C position and more PT for Henson, the Bucks should be able to improve on their 11th ranked shot blocking.

But in an improved EC, how many more wins can they get? Atlanta, Toronto, Chicago, and Indiana all will field strong teams. Cleveland is still the team to beat. Washington and Orlando appear to be improved.

I think the Bucks are a team capable of 50 wins if they make shots and stay healthy. It should be fun to watch this team grow. Tomorrow night it's on!!!

Cleveland sleep walked though most of that game, lost by 2. That Bulls team will not defend like they have in the past. And when Irving comes back, Cleveland won lose many games until he's hurt again.

GS looks like they are not a one hit wonder. They play an very entertaining brand of basketball. Fun to watch.

Detroit impressed with me a road win against ATL- kinda surprised by that one. Just one game, but they may be improved with the roster they've assembled.
Defensively they were awful against the Knicks.  Allowing 122 points?  Not sure they did that once last season.

The other issue is they had 18 turnovers and just didn't seem to look very organized on offense.  Middleton had a terrible night shooting the ball and I'm not sure I want to see MCW putting up nearly 20 shots.

Getting Giannis back will help them big time but that was a bad loss
Another horrible half- Raptors all over them. Can't defend- 55 for Toronto at the half. Monroe can't defend Valanciunis, Middleton can't defend Derozen... turnovers all over the place, too much penetration by the Raptor Gs leaving guys all alone all over the place.

This is not the same team playing defense this year as last year. They allow too much penetration, they foul too much... I don't know what happened. They look horrible. The return of Parker won't make them better defenders. This is very discouraging...

Nice win by the Bucks! That was cool to see. Even better...

Carter-Williams slipped in the final seconds and went directly to the bench. He soaked his left ankle in ice after the game and believes the injury isn't serious.

Really looking forward to seeing Jabari Parker get his first minutes since the injury. Looks like he has done one hell of a good job rehabbing.

Getting an idea what Greg Monroe is- dolid all around big man on the offensive end. What he isn't? A defender. Oi, he's gettg abused nightly. It's not the biggest issue, but it's going to be a long term issue. Pachulia at least kept guys out of the paint- he's a really strong dude. Monroe? Not so much.

Fouls... This team fouls too much. MCW fouls too much, but he does get some steals. Middleton seems out of shape to me. He's hacking away, and he's going to match up against a lot of top scorers. Play d with your feet, Kris! And get some lift on your shots! If you were in shape, you'd play better.

Brooklyn missed the 3s, but that's the biggest issue right now. They give up too many 3s. We'll see how many of those 3s go in as the season goes on. Long season has a way of making it harder to get that lift on the deep ball...

I read an article where a Buck's player said that Pachulia and Dudley were very significant pieces of the Bucks strength on defense last year.

I am not qualified to determine player management, but it does appear to me the Bucks strategy with respect to its team makeup included sacrificing quite a bit of quality on the defensive end.

I think they're a work out in progress. Will the trade off with Monroe equate to wins? Only 82 games will tell.

Tonight's game- they let too much penetration and they only beat Philly because they suck. They're going to need some time to get enough reps to iron out the roles. Perhaps if they have MCW tonight it's a blowout. Gonna have to wait to see the whole team playing together...
You're right MC. Vasquez said as much in post game interview.

Another great win by the Bucks over PHI. They are just getting to know each other, but wow, looking good for this stage.

Monroe, Vasquez, Copeland, Middleton and Giannis really brought it. Great defense!

Really impressed with Miles Plumlee and Johnny O'Bryant. Nice job as role players. Both with great blocks. Also nice to see Jabari back playing again.

This was a much improved PHI team.

I've been impressed with JOB. He has a nice game, but teams are daring him to shoot the 17 footer, and he's not making it. As soon as he does, he'll be a great role player.

Plumlee has a nice niche with this team. He'll get you some baskets and boards.

Giannis is becoming a star. He's still learning, but he's already emerging. He gets in the lane it's over. He's living up to the hype- a pleasant change from the norm...

Henson makes a big difference with that second unit. And his FT shooting is vastly improved.

Bucks are playing D now, and now that they're getting guys back, we're starting to see some of the things we have been looking for. Still not shooting the way they will need to be a upper echelon team, but it's coming around.

Beat the Nets tonight and keep the momentum going!

Henson and JOB really picked up the slack for a relatively quiet night by Monroe.  I know that Vasquez will probably shoot/pass better at some point, but so far he seems like he's trying too hard.  Giannis is getting the mid-range jumper to fall.  If he can become at least a nominal threat out to 3-point range, he will be a marquee player.

A friend offered me a floor level seat for tonight's game.  Can't wait!
