I'll stick by my opinion that a football field is NOT the place for political statements. Whether he is "justified" or not is irrelevant.
If Kaperdick is so concerned, he can retire from football and devote his life to making whatever statements he wants to from whatever pulpit he chooses. A professional sports stadium ain't it.
And where does he draw his line? It seems to me since the NFL oppressed black men as much as any other organization or country, and still may to this day, he should make a demonstration against the very team that employs him on a daily basis. Would it not be hypocritical if he doesn't?
I know horse**** when I smell it, and he stinks.

If Kaepernick wants to make a real difference he can get out in the community and build relationships or coach of mentor others.  Not to mention several other ideas.

His play is to grab attention - which he most certainly did.  The problem is people don't take him seriously because where's the action?  All he did was come across like a complete jackass.

And spare me the "there's racism and prejudice and Kap is trying to do something about it" BS.  There are a ton of other people that aren't in the spotlight doing a hell of a lot more than him to move these issues forward.

Can you tell me these other people who aren't in the spotlight are and how they've moved this issue forward?

As I said earlier. Kaep has now attached his name firmly to this cause. If he buttons up now he's ****ed forever. I agree he's not the poster child for invoking change. But these folks you speak of that have done a ton more than Colin haven't sparked discussion like Colin has in the past 24 hours. That's the audience a person in his position has.

If this is nothing more than an attention grab we'll all know soon enough. I kind of hope it's not. I kind of hope it spreads and real change actually happens. Because things are pretty ****ed up in this country right now. And Washington isn't exactly laying out a solid correction plan either.

And I always love how black people think they can even begin to talk of violence against blacks when this seems to be a weekend sporting event for them, and then of course, its whiteys fault

Honestly, he has the right to do this and as a veteran I support it. It doesn't make it any less ignorant or any less stupid or misguided.

The country isn't racist. It can't be, because a country isn't a person. There are people that are racist within it. We all know this. But we are beyond the idea that the society as a whole fits in this category.

And his stance has so many contradictions it proves that he's just a product of what he's been taught. With a $100M contract in hand, he still speaks of minority oppression and makes some sort of sad stance against "the flag" as if it has meaning. Even with a black president, prominent black figures all over government, entertainment, business... he speaks of oppression? It's hollow and insulting and total nonsense, but it's expected that minorities are programmed to ignore the consequences of their choices and believe that regardless of the facts of their circumstances they're still victims of some grand conspiracy to oppress them. Generally, the only chains anyone has on them now are the ones they put on themselves.

Maybe he should be outraged at all the shootings / killings in, say, Chicago, of average people. Oh, right, those don't matter so much.

Exactly!  Let's stop all violence AMIRITE GUYS? I know you're really outraged about Chicago!

However, like me, I'm sure you are even more outraged about the killings in Alturas CA, which has a murder rate of 152.96/100K vs Chicago's 15.09/100K!  I mean given your humanist position, I'm sure this is not news to you!

So, yeah, why doesn't Kapernick get outraged all violence, whether in Chicago or Alturas, CA!  Why does he only seem to be focused on historical and systematic racism and violence that has been going on for hundreds of years to a very specific group of people, when there are killings and shooting in lots of places man!

It's good seeing someone like yourself that cares only about murder rates and violence.  I'm sure, like me, you must be 10x more outraged about Alturas CA's violence!  Almost 10x higher murders per capita than Chicago!  DISGUSTING!  Why aren't you focused on that Colin?  That's your state man!

So, kudos to you for being so very concerned about violence of all sorts, excalibur!

I mean, it would take someone mighty cynical to not believe with 100% certainty that you are not truly outraged about all violence in America.  Or to think you're just trotting out meaningless talking points not related to what Kaepernick is doing because that's what Hannity or Bill O or Rushbo or whatever talking head tells you to say because you lack the mental capacity to think for yourself.  Or to think your "BUT BUT BUT CHICAGO" is little more than a not at all subtle dogwhistle that you use because you don't have the brass to say what you really mean about "those" people on a family website.

But, I know that isn't you!  You are truly outraged about violence.  But as a small favor, I'd ask for you to not forget Alturas CA where there are 10X murders per capita than even Chicago when you continue your comments on the horrors of violence in America!

I didn't know that about Alturas, CAPF95.  Indeed that is sad.  Also sad that it's not more newsworthy with everything going on now.

However, when you try to demonize FOX News, you lose your own argument and then it just becomes a Far Left Liberal rant.  Why not start bashing Cooper, Pelley, Holt, Williams, etc., for their left leaning politics on the nightly news?  FOX is the only network where you will get ALL the news....not just the Democrat Party slanted news that the "alphabet" networks and CNN put forth.   I will give you that Rushbo and Hannity are opinion shows....but not O'Reilly.  People that demonize FOX News don't even watch it - they just parrot what Huffington-Post, George Soros and Media Matters spew out.

(OK, mods, thanks for being fair-and-balanced by allowing me to rebut CAPF95's misguided statement)

You realize how shallow this sounds, right? I mean. This is one paragraph after you say this country isn't racist.

For **** sakes don't try and make this a political slant issue. This isn't politics. This isn't remotely close to politics. These are real problems needing real attention by intelligent people other than politicians because they need to be fixed.
