Since it's an ex-Packer, I felt it made sense to make it its own thread. 
I think everyone else knew before he did.
it's gotta be nice to retire at 32 with enough money to know you really don't hafta work another day, and be able to enjoy your family financially worry-free for the rest of your life. congrats Greg.
really enjoyed you as a GBP, not so much after free agency made you weird.
He retired the moment he went to the Vikings. Was never remotely close to the WR he was at GB.
Early on in his career I honestly thought barring injury Jennings would end up as the Packers' all-time leader in receptions, possibly receiving yards and TDs as well. Who knows what would've happened had he not gotten greedy.
No question, though, that he was a borderline great player for all of his time in Green Bay. Deceptive speed, good hands, good runner with the ball, and a simply terrific route runner. Watching him set up opposing DBs was a treat.
If Ryan Clark and Troy Polomalu have nightmares there's no question Greg Jennings is in them.
Shouldn't this be in the Vikings thread?
Remember him for two things- a huge third-down catch in the SB that helped to seal the win and a really bad career decision.

IMO, he could have been our version of Wes Welker (minus the head dings of course). Nelson would have eclipsed him as the number 1 but with Cobb, a really good running game in Lacy, and a competent TE ...Gerg would have gotten some good favorable match ups against 3rd and 4th tier CB's.
Like Freeman (who lost his speed after awhile) became a decent possession WR later in his career, I think Gerg could have done the same. Yes, not having Rodgers was the main kiss of death to his career. But he also left a really good supporting cast here.
For 4 years 2007-2010, Jennings was a very good player. You could tell after the injuries he suffered in 2011 he started to decline. It was disappointing to see him get a big head after handling himself beautifully his first few years in the NFL.
Hopefully he's been humbled a bit and can get back to being the really good guy he was before the money, fame, and TV appearances brought out a bit of a negative side to his personality.
He was integral to XLV. Don't fault the guy for taking more money, but could've done without the drama on his way out.

Things got really weird really fast with Greg his last year in GB. The "I want to be here, but at the end of the day its a business" comments really started piling up fast. Remember when Leslie Frazier had to pull him aside and told him to STFU about Green Bay? Man did he end up in a place where he hated Green Bay.
No disputing his play in GB though. Very talented guy. Supreme route runner. And by all accounts a great guy in the locker room until the breakup.

Jennings was an angel post-Packers compared to Bert.
Felt bad with the way he left. Think he listened to stupid people, and could have simply left with no drama.
But if you can't watch the DVD highlights of Super Bowl 45 in both his being mic'd up and his play on the field, and not love the Green Bay Packers version of Greg Jennings then I don't know what to tell you. I would love to see him come back into the fold.

He may have made some money from it. Greg was a guest on the George Lopez show after the Super Bowl and they showed a clip of the broken leg video and Greg mentioned how he saw the video and other players on the Packers and other teams saw it and teased him about it during the divisional playoff game against Atlanta. So this guy decided to record a game of Madden football he wins and put it on you tube probably not thinking much of it at all and it ends up being watched by numerous NFL players , gets shown on a nationally televised show,and 12 million views in 6 years... that's pretty darn neat.
Get lost Jennings.

I should be one to hold a grudge, but I can't believe people are upset about GJ moving on. It was his choice, he was a great packer, and he is walking away on his terms. He's really a good guy, I follow him on twitter, he has contests, tweets back at lots of people, and is really encouraging and inspires, people. IMO, he's packer people. I wish him all the best! Thanks for the memories Greg.
As I've said in some previous posts, Greg Jennings actually came to our company picnics back in the summers of 2008 and 2009 and was absolutely awesome in how he handled himself at both of them. Zero diva attitude whatsoever and seemed to enjoy himself. If you're wondering why he came, our company had a relationship with Sprint at the time and Jennings was a spokesperson for them.
I did hear that in the next couple of years after that, he pulled a "Do you know who I am?" stunt at Brett Favre's Steakhouse when he and his family weren't getting seated fast enough.
That all said, I'd like to think Jennings will drift back to being the cool guy he once was now that the fame has subsided for him a bit.
I think people still poke fun at him because of the way he trashed the Packers and Aaron Rodgers in the media after he went to Minny. Had he kept his mouth shut, I think most people wouldn't disparage him.

DD, Finley and Nick Barnett tweeted congrats to him. I don't follow AR, so I'm not sure about him or anyone else.

Greg has been on the press tour after his retirement post. Did an interview with NFL Network. Was on Jim Rome. In general. He thinks he should have said a lot of things differently on his way out of GB. Thinks he said a lot of things out of bitterness. He didn't get why Ted didn't want him or why Aaron didn't take up for him and have his back.
I think Greg feels he was instrumental in Aarons path to greatness and then Aaron turned his back on him. Not entirely inaccurate. Greg was certainly one of the 5 best WRs in the NFL 2009 through 2011. I'm sure it helped Aaron a great deal to have a guy like Greg running great routes and seeing things like Aaron did early in his career. Aaron certainly didn't lobby to keep him (at least publicly)
But Gregs argument for helping Aaron become Aaron become a little harder to defend given his numbers after he didn't have Aaron.
Im sure Greg would love a do-over. I would too. I'd also love to see Nick Collins playing safety this year in GB. Stuff happens.
Did the WR run a great route because the pass was on the money and in stride, or did the QB put the pass on the money and in stride because the WR ran a great route?

Donald and Greg had to transition from one to the other.
They both did because they were both really great at routes. Really great.
Im sure they loved the free for all Favre system. What WR wouldn't? Rodgers makes receivers pay attention to so many effing details.
I miss Greg. I do. Anyone remember Greg trying to loosen up Mason after he shanked two figgies in Detroit while he was sidelined in 2012 before GB cut him loose?
No idea what happened to that guy. That guy was pure Packer.
