This.

Lots of rookies flame out after a good first season. Or at least show regression in year 2. And other rookies take a couple of seasons to hit their stride.

This exactly! Pumped about this draft class but the league is going to study them and figure out their strengths and weaknesses. Right now they are just a “beautiful mystery “. Even guys like Doubs and Watson are unknown. They are still learning the game.

Met a guy out here in Vegas who went to school with Wicks. Cowboys fan but likes the Packers because he knows how good Wicks is.

It's getting crazy out here 😬

I’ve long been drawn to route running demons like Wicks. It’s why I thought Freeman was going to be a good receiver when he was merely a kick returner. Man, Wicks gives me all the vibes.

In small areas, he does play a lot quicker. And it's getting off the line that can separate WRs, and that's a skill he and Adams have. Adams is the best at getting off the LOS at the snap, and from that point on the DB is scrambling to catch up. Wicks has some of that same skill in him.

Defenses have a way of using a player's weakness against him.  I think Wicks caught a lot of defenses and defensive backs off guard as a rookie.  He won't be able to use that element in 24.  He'll have to keep developing the rest of his game to stay ahead.  Adams didn't have breakaway speed but he was elite in pretty much every other category.

wicks had a 4.62 forty? Wow, he looked as though he played a lot faster than that.

Jerry Rice was rumored to have run a 4.71, but was probably more like a 4.55.

Davante Adams ran a 4.56.

I think 40 times are more important for DBs than for WRs. The WRs know where they are going, the DBs have to react. A slow DB has much less chance to recover when a WR runs a great route. A WR that can run great routes to generate some separation can overcome average speed.

However, every WR room needs a guy that can threaten defenses deep with 4.35 speed (C. Watson, Tyreke Hill, MVS). You don't want your whole roster of WRs to be like Lazards or Wicks. If they were, the opposing DC moves the safeties much closer to the LOS and gives less room for everyone to work.

I just cannot believe we got this guy as late in the draft as we did.

I can....Packers scouts are some of the best in the NFL and if Gutey crushes a 3rd straight draft....game over mofo's

Best and worst receivers this season at being charted as open vs single man coverage. See if you can guess who came in at # 1 ?
