@YATittle posted:Why this kicker is my question.
Because Bisaccia coached his brother into an all-pro after a shaky start to his career. You know teams like bloodlines and familiarity.
Bisaccia must think he can work the same magic with Anders that he did with his brother. Because of that itβs worth it to take a flier on him especially when you have 13 picks.
Packerswire says:β On Anders Carlson: Rich Bisaccia has experience with Daniel Carlson. Had injuries in 2021 and 2022. βWe felt really good about where heβs headed.β Bisaccia spent time with him at Auburn. Familarity was a big part of taking Carlson. βHe has to stay healthy, too.β Packers gained confidence from Bisacciaβs confidence in Carlson.
If one of, if not the best, ST coaches in the league gives the guy a thumbs up, you take him if you have the ability to do so.
White will have a better NFL career than Carlson.
You can look it up.
@Goalline posted:It seems the top 2 kickers were already gone. Was this guy the 3rd best? This is why you donβt draft for need.
But, but we needed a Kicker !!

Jesus Fuck Cornbread Cowboi homer
I guess we'll see 12 years from now. Or not. You need to get your weight under control.
Apparently, this kid is a good clutch kicker.
If he gets a hangnail, they can stash him on IR, heal him up, and watch him develop. In Bisaccia we trust.
@Fandame posted:If he gets a hangnail, they can stash him on IR
the new flexible Practice Squad rules allow teams to stash kickers there instead of the old hang nail routine.
Packers carried an extra kicker a few weeks on PS last year and if anybody tries to snag them, GB can move to 53 or offer a bigger PS paycheck to keep him.
GB has 2 long snappers too, so I think we'll see a real competition this summer.

You look at Crosby's numbers in college and they weren't great. 74% overall and 68% his last year.
Anders wasn't very good his last two years but 20/22 his 3rd year tells me he can do the job prior to the injuries.
I think I recall that about Crosby. I believe they drafted him for his leg, which was very strong coming out.
As do all the fans.
Carlson missing one was not that surprising. Gary Andersen on the other hand..........................
Well, that comment didnβt age well MLF. Iβm sure Carlson appreciates it as well.
They have to at least bring in competition in camp. And bring in a real safety not named Rudy Ford or Darnell Savage.
Anders Carlson ended the season 4/9 on FGs from 40-49 yards, including just 1 of his last 4.

Like I said in the other thread.....we all prayed when Crosbys rookie year started too.
Such as life with a rookie kicker

This will likely do wonders for his confidence.
He's a grown-up.
I remember when "Money" missed multiple FG's at home against the Loins. Shit happens. If you can kick better, show up at the Packers mini camp and prove it.

Packers Sign Kicker to Challenge Anders Carlson
Empty threat. They just want to motivate Carlson, especially since this kid is only 54% on 40 yards+ tries. But, I like the message it sends to Carlson and the team.
SEC Special Teams player of the year, better at PATs and touchbacks but yes underwhelming at 40 to 49yd range (Carlson's achilles heel).
Simple. If it's 3rd and long just kick the 50 yarder.
The Green Bay Packers are signing my client Greg Joseph who kicked for the Minnesota Vikings the past 3 seasons. Holds the NFL record for game-winners in a season (5), Vikings record for longest FG (61 yds), & led NFL in TB% in '21. Had other interest but liked this opportunity.

Packers bringing in some legitimate competition.
is he the kicker that missed a gimme field goal to win a playoff game a few years ago?
"We" will never for get You Andrew
Greg Joseph on kicks of 40 or more yards last year: 7/13
β Zach Kruse (@zachkruse2) March 26, 2024
Anders Carlson on kicks of 40 or more yards last year: 7/13
Both are woefully inconsistent so it should be a good competition!

I think so. There is this too.....
He'll never be a Blair Walsh!

First kicker to 100 misses loses?
He's there to press Anders. If it's close, they'll keep Anders. Joseph did better last year, but he's no Mason.
Vikings fans are already figuring out the comp pic they will get for the Packers signing this guy. Tell them they can have the 1st pick of the 8th round. That should get them fired up.....
