I was there as well. Two things:

1. Favre absolutely did play. Ugly game for him but he took every snap.

2. McNabb was a junior at Syracuse in 1997 so he definitely did not play in that game. This was during the Ty Detmer experiment in Philly.

I stand corrected!  (Senior moment πŸ˜‚). Favre did play and Ty Detmer was Eagles QB.  It was an ugly game. Painful to watch.

What no one is talking about, not even the commentators during the play, or Bears fans,... NO ONE is talking about this one, little, thing, that happened on that blocked field goal.

THE   BALL   HIT   THE   CROSS    BAR...

... and I'll even go out on a limb and say that the ball may have actually "gone in".

Now what "gets me", is that out of all the millions of people, that are supposedly watching this game, I'm the only person that noticed this... or am I?

IT DOES MATTER. Not calling that part of the play, as commentators, is curious, to say the least. As if it t'was a forgone conclusion.

Go and look for yourself. I can't find the follow-though footage to know if it went in or not, as highlight cuts out before the ball either passes behind or in front of the pole after it hit the crossbar.

I thought so too when the play happened, and even asked Ms. Timmy if it hit the crossbar.
There is one replay angle where it looks like it indeed did, but I think it was an 'optical illusion', as Dr. Bob hypothesized.
However, I never thought the ball ever bounced in/over the crossbar when I was thinking it did hit it.

No matter how hard I look, on the replay angle from behind the kicker, I can't see or track the ball to see where it ultimately lands. Even after the play is over, I don't see the ball on the field anywhere.

The ball hit at about the goal line then bounced to the ref. The players were celebrating before the first bounce, so it was clearly well short.

Just stupid overly fancy camera work compared to the basic static endzone view where you can actually see the trajectory of the ball.

(though I suppose it's probably the static endzone view where it was in line for the optical illusion of hitting the crossbar)

My uncle is able to pull his thumb right off of his left had.  No blood, no skin tearing.  It must hurt him because he makes a little grimace.  And after about two seconds, he shoves it back on his hand.  No scarring, no marks, nothing.  I don’t know how he does it.

I guess if you're only going to make one post in your x4 life, this one goes in the record books.

I was sitting in that corner of the end zone which would be just to the right as you look from the kicker.  That ball made it to the end zone and it wabbled to the right but it didn't hit the cross bar.  It bounced and the ref got it but it didn't bounce off.

If you watch the replay from straight on to the Bears kicker, follow just the ball. It's hard to see and I had to watch it three times, but you can pick up the ball in the air and see it land almost directly on the goal line and take a bounce. And yes, you see the Packers' players celebrating and Bears deflating long before the refs signal no good. They knew it was short; if it had hit the crossbar, they would have been holding their breath and watching. When in doubt, watch the players.

I wonder about some of you...

WATCH     THE    REFS     WHEN     THEY    WAVE      "NO    GOOD"

They are watching the ball until it's "no good"... it hit the crossbar. The ball does not bounce in front of them.

Has the cleanup crew come to debunk and dispel us with explanations of mirages and accusations of sleep deprivation. I'm certain this, whatever this is, will never amount to anything. That doesn't mean it didn't happen.

That's the commentators job. That's why I brought this up. They need to watch the play all the way through and tell the fans what happened. Not the other way around.

I still think it went in... they cut the footage before you can see the ball go in front OR behind the post it bounces towards.

YOU'D think a BEARS fans would have noticed... moreso than a Packers fan would since they want that ball to go in. I bet if you brought this up they would tell you it wasn't even close.

It was very close. (I still think it may have gone in)

So what game are these people watching that the ball has no chance and it's not even close?

... I wonder about some of you.
