Boy is he gonna get fooled when the Packers play the Lions.  And Miami and Jax.

He also has the Jets favored in every game after their 1st vs. San Fran.

Not sure what he is drinking but it must be good.

One unfortunate twist to the 2024 schedule is giving Vic Fangio all summer to prep for the Packers. It will however be the eagles first game with a new system /DC so that evens it out a bit.

Here's a lengthy write-up on Vic after he arrived in Philly.
Couple of comments on ammo's favorite draft pick for the Eagles, DeJean

Here's a link to last years' Sagarin ratings and they can offer a hint when making predictions for 2024

If you look at the middle columns, they show how that team did vs top competition. They have W/L columns for games vs Top 10 and for Top 16

Take a look at the cowboys for example - they played the 29th toughest schedule, had 7 games vs top 10 teams and delivered a 2-5 record in those games.
That's an over-rated cowboys team, same as ever.

Det. also struggled vs top competition, delivering a 2-4 record vs Top 10 teams. Packers had the 9th toughest schedule last year and managed a 3-2 record vs top 10 opponents

You think Niners are #1?

I got them out of the playoffs or maybe the 7th seed.

If I was a betting man I would put some money on SF falling off a bit.  The 9ers have been very fortunate in recent years that they have avoided the injuries for the most part and just due for the down year teams have every few years.

Just because I said that I jinxed it and they will go undefeated.

Here's one from the 33rd Team
- their picks for Top 10 rosters in the NFL as we roll into 2024

Packers made the list and so did 7 of their upcoming opponents.
8 if you wanna count the preseason game against the Ravens -  who actually try to win those games

This offseason winners/losers/prediction blurb comes from The Athletic last year
This is how they viewed the upcoming 2023 season for the NFC North

Winner: NFC North teams

It’s a wide-open race to the playoffs for the Vikings, Lions and Bears as the Packers likely take some lumps while Jordan Love acclimates to life as an NFL starter. Minnesota last season won the division for the first time in five years, and Detroit flirted with a playoff berth. Each worked to address key weaknesses this offseason. And don’t sleep on Chicago, which took an aggressive and impressive approach to upgrading on both sides of the ball while continuing the mission of building around Justin Fields. Now is the time to strike with Green Bay forced into reset mode.

And some more bad predictions here:

Loser: San Francisco 49ers

They just had a remarkable season despite rampant quarterback injury drama. But the NFC runners-up now have a lot of questions at the most important position. Will Brock Purdy recover from offseason elbow surgery and recapture the magic that saw him go from Mr. Irrelevant to winner of eight straight games (including two in the playoffs)? Is Trey Lance or Sam Darnold the starter if Purdy isn’t ready by Week 1? The Niners also lost Ryans, their talented defensive coordinator, who lured a few standout players with him to Houston.

Winner: Seattle Seahawks

The 49ers have questions at quarterback, but the Seahawks solved theirs and could contend for the NFC West crown. Not only did they retain Geno Smith on a reasonable deal that suits both team and quarterback, they also brought back defensive tone-setter Bobby Wagner and added more young talent to a steadily improving defense. The 2023 draft class also includes impactful offensive players like wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba and RB Zach Charbonnet.

SF went to the Super Bowl, Seattle sucked and fire their coach.
Completely opposite outcomes compared to their predictions.

This one is from The Athletic and it talks about how Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel leaned into his left- handed QB and turned it into an advantage.
With a little help from Steve Young

There are a fair number of important differences, especially for the DBs and McDaniel believes even a nanosecond of hesitation works in their favor. The DBs who play on the offenses' right side are used to seeing the QBs face- but Tua is facing the other way. The DEs who are trained to watch for the bootleg, are on the opposite side. There's lots more in the article.

https://www.nytimes.com/athlet...rterbacks-advantage/

"Preparing a scout team for a left-handed quarterback is perhaps the biggest impact on an opponent, especially non-divisional teams that may see a lefty once a year or less. Curl recalled that Washington’s scout team quarterback had to reorder his progressions from back-to-front when presenting looks for the starting defense in practices ahead of the game against Miami last year.

“I just felt like everything was just flipped to the opposite side, every read and stuff like that,” said Curl, “Just trying to get that down in one week?
It was a little challenging.”

McDaniel hopes to make the week of game preparation for defensive coordinators just a little harder.

“Anytime you can’t prepare for something during the week 100 percent so that one element of game day is new, it’s really hard for the opposing team,” he said."

The Packers face the Dolphins in the Thanksgiving Night game at Lambeau-
I have no doubt Hafley will have them prepared, but it is a real challenge

.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it...is to remove (2) NFC playoff teams from 2023 and replace them with their 2024 counterparts based on your superior football knowledges.

Who's IN, who's OUT ?

I wouldn't expect the 12-win teams to fade enough to miss the playoffs, so I'm looking at the 2 teams with the fewest wins, other than the Packers, of course.

That means Tampa Bay and LA Rams.
What's not so easy is picking replacement teams. The most obvious choices are Seattle and New Orleans. Just 1 game either way could be the difference for both of them, so not a certainty.
One of the 7-win teams last year could possibly sneak in with a 2-game improvement, but they are all starting new QBs, so I don't know how likely that would be.

Detoilet looks to have tough schedule next season. They have to go to Dallas, San Fran and Houston.   They also have home games with Seattle,  Rams and Buffalo.   They will be hard pressed to repeat their 2023 record.

I agree on the Lions that its going to be tougher for them this year not only with a tougher schedule but the NFCN is going be no joke for one tough division.

Also, there is the coach meathead factor.  I really believe he will lose them a game or two because of how he has gone beyond aggressive and is now almost reckless with how he calls the game.

This is probably a bit outlandish, but I could see the Packers being the 2nd best team in the NFC.  Behind only…. the Lions.

I feel like this year is more like 1995 or 2009 for the Packers.  They are 1 year away from being at their peak.

I think this is the season the Lions have been waiting for since… Bobby Layne was leading them to an NFL title in the 1950s.

The Lions O-Line on paper is the best in the NFL.  Amon Ra St. Brown is a fantastic #1 WR.  Sam LaPorta looks like a potential star at TE.  Jamyr Gibbs is incredibly fast and versatile.  Goff had a really good year last year and maybe is the one thing that could hold them back, if he backslides at all.

I think the Lions D will take a step forward as they had a lot of talented youth that will be more mature.

As good as the Lions look, hey we saw the Pack shock them on 3 days rest last Thanksgiving and maybe they can shock the Lions again and steal their glory.  I do think the Lions are going to be formidable though if they can stay reasonably healthy.  They remind be a bit of how the Pack rose from the dregs of the NFL to a power back in the 1990s.

What is Goff's ceiling? IMO he won't/can't play any better than he did last season. Does he duplicate last year? Unlikely.

Goff & Meathead are the key to everything. If Meathead keeps going for it on 4th down and Goff regresses to the mean....what will their record be?? 10 wins? Less??!?!?!?

Ditto for the health of their team.
They're starting the season with a couple of key guys on IR or PUP, and could ill afford to lose anybody else.
For as good as their starters are perceived, I think their depth is weak.

@Fandame posted:

I agree with Heckler in that Meathead will cost them a game or two. Last year the players said all the right things, but you have to wonder how long that will last.

We don't know for sure if the players are all in as well but I do wonder if at one point they get pissed about it.

Honestly, I wouldn't care if the Lions won it as long as it doesn't come at the Packers expense.

Right now I am more concerned about the Eagles and the need to beat them not only to get off to a good start but also to pick up an important NFC game right from the start.

I think Boris is onto something, in that I also think the 49ers are about to falter. I see Seattle taking over the NFC West. I can see the Falcons moving up to a playoff spot, this season. I see Houston taking the AFC South. I see the Packers moving up to take the North, of course, with the Bears making a play for 2nd place, in a fight with the Lions. Other than that, I dunno.

I agree with you and Boris that sooner or later the 49ers are going to falter.  They are so overdue for one of those years where they have a rash of injuries and they don't have everything go their way.  I agree about Seattle challenging them and I do think the Rams will also have something to say about that division as well.

The NFCN is going to be really interesting to say the least.

Can the Packers continue their roll they got on last year?

Will Williams really be the missing piece at QB for the Bears?  I am not sold on him just yet and the media ball washing of the Bears is getting sickening.

The Lions? Really good roster but how will they react to being the hunted and not the hunter?  And as we discussed before how many games will coach meathead cost them?

The Spermheads?  I will be bust or boom for them.  They have already had a ton of injuries and how much trust should someone have in a QB room of Darnold, Mullins and Rypien?
