Don't forget Ty (The bigger Cobb)! He just might pass them both after he recovers

Just read a blog - meaning the author was merely speculating rather than passing on real info - that suggested the possibility of Ty opening the season on PUP. If the injury was severe enough, could buy some extra time for Ty's recovery and the team's decision.

in 2016, Janis makes as much sense as Drumpf. I just don't get the love for Janis. Speed and toughness is great on ST, and sure he'll fight for the Hail Mary, but we've seen enough to know he isn't ready to be a consistent option.

With a healthy Nelson, Cobb, Monty, Adams, Cook, Lacy... how often do we see a Hail Mary in 2016? Janis (and RichRod) got those opportunities last season because of the depleted receiving options and Clements.

Maybe McCarthy will scheme a Hail Mary for Janis, out of the Statute of Liberty formation?

They probably read it here!  The idea has been batted around several times the last couple months.

FWIW, here's Rodney's opinion on Janis! weakness and strengths.

So how should the coaches use Janis? Well, despite a great 40 time (4.42), he’s probably not going to stretch the field vertically. That’s because the 24-year-old has a hard time running under deep throws, and he also lacks the burst and acceleration to separate down the field. That’s been obvious in practices and games.

If the coaches want to go deep with Janis, their best bet is to let him run down the field, find a spot, and then out jump the defensive back(s). We know that can work. Of course, quarterback Aaron Rodgers would have to trust No. 83 to fight for the ball and not allow it to be picked, and that might be asking too much.

The best way to use Janis is to simply get the ball into his hands as quickly as possible. Because he’s capable of turning any short throw into a chunk play, his skill set is perfect for two types of routes. His speed, along with the quality blocking usually employed by his fellow receivers, would make him a huge threat on bubble screens. And his size, vision and run strength would make him extremely dangerous on slants.

Adams or Davis getting cut is about as likely as me making the team.

7 WR's might happen.

There are also trade possibilities.

There you go.   Janis for Joe Thomas.  Wait ...... we got him already.

Gotta love the comments section on that site.  I'm not sure but I think I just read Julio Jones and Jeff Janis mentioned in the same sentence.  Must have something to do with the letter J.

< insert vet player or coach name hereon Janis' development: "He just needs to: improve his fundamental; get to a level where _______; trust his studies; wait his turn; go vegan; take steroids; find a slump buster; ...

< insert Packers beat writer or internet fan-boy name hereon Janis' development: "He just needs: opportunities; a chance to fvck up; drop a few balls; more Hail Mary plays; ...

Jeff Janis, on Jeff Janis (from 2014):  "At the Senior Bowl I saw I could compete with the best players ... I had heard fifth or sixth round. It didn't happen that way, but I feel lucky to be drafted."   "I have size and speed and ability to stretch the field,"   "I run deep routes and posts the best. I can run short routes and make people miss, too."   "I've watched him,"  said Janis, referring to Jordy Nelson.  "I mirror my game after him. I'm looking forward to playing with him."

Janis and Abby roomed together at the Sr Bowl that year - did not know that.

Janis had Wonderlic scores of 23 and 32... but we all know the Wonderlic gives little to no indication of a players ability to you know, play.

When the guy is such an "athlete" but is getting manhandled at the line and driven off routes he doesn't understand in the first place it's a little more than not getting reps.

Just accept Janis the Dumb is Bobby Boucher of ST and be done with it.

All the kid does is score TD's...who needs that?

In 2:00, Rodgers heaves 65-yard throw that Janis catches at the 5 for TD off Shields tip. Adams shouts, "The Hail Mary King is at it again!"

I stopped reading at "They need to let him botch a play and go back to him for more." If they know he's going to botch a play then they don't need to let him on the field. The Adams hate after 1 bad season is excessive, he's still a very young player. Let's see how YEAR 3 goes now that he's healthy again, it's not like he's still sucking after 5 seasons. He's had 1 good season and 1 poor season that he was injured for much of. Janis has had 1 moderately successful game and hasn't earned meaningful playing time other than that (really he's only seen the field because of injury). Adams had a pretty successful playoff game himself the year before, showing more promise in that game than Janis did against the Cardinals. Adams may keep struggling and flame out, but I have hunch he rebounds and holds his spot. His workout numbers may not match Janis', but he's a better football player.

Say what you want about Janis but he never gave up.

Sometimes Adams did...and that's worse than anything Janis ever did.

For somebody with such an actual poor record of draft analysis...you sure have no shame to act like you have an opinion everybody wants to hear on every subject that comes along.

Cut your posts in half...that would be a good start.

How is Ragland doing in Packer OTA's?

Oh wait...another swing and a miss from the guy who has no more clue than anybody else here...but acts like he's Ted's assistant or something.

Ouch, that's a sick burn! Attack my completely amateur draft opinions I share on a Packer fan forum, you really hurt my feelings. I share an opinion here like everyone else, people disagree all the time. Its sort of the point of this whole place. The only people that get made fun of for their opinions are trolls like you. If my opinion offends you, I don't care, put me on ignore. I don't have any more clue than anyone else, just callin' 'em like I see 'em. Perhaps a softer, more friendly Packer forum is right for you.
