@TyDunne: And #Packers ILB A.J. Hawk announces on his podcast that he has been released after nine seasons with the team: http://t.co/f0FzN381aT

@jasonjwilde: Hawk: “I spent nine great years in Green Bay. I had awesome teammates and coaches and a great medical staff and equipment staff."

@jasonjwilde: Hawk: "I loved everything about playing for one of the greatest franchises in all of sports. The fans in Green Bay are incredible."

@TyDunne: Hawk: "The fans in Green Bay are incredible. Between playing at Lambeau Field as well as seeing them on the road, they always supported us."

@TyDunne: More Hawk: "I am looking forward to my next opportunity in the NFL, but I’ll always cherish my years as a Green Bay Packer.”

@TyDunne: So as @TomSilverstein wrote last week, the #Packers will now* be about $30 million under the salary cap. A lot of money to sign their FA's.

It was time.  I was very critical of Hawk these past 3 seasons which I believe was warranted.  I have no doubt he was a great person but he just wasn't able to perform at a high enough level to help this team win.  I wish him the best in his career (until he signs with the Vikings, which will happen in about 4 hours).

As for TT, last year was the safety position, this year will be ILB.  Let's hope he finds a solution.

You know how on those animal shows when a group of environmentalists rescue a porcupine or a bear cub with a shattered pelvis and they take months to slowly bring the animal back to health and then they go off to some desolate area to re-introduce the animal back to the wild but the animal kind of hangs out in the cage even though the door is wide open and eventually the environmentalists start poking the animal with sticks and generally get pissed the animal wont take off because it's basically institutionalized....

I picture AJ like the bear with the shattered pelvis right now.
