Those that follow al will recognize there are a few constants in his world:

1) Patriotism
B) The fight against global warming
I) CASUALS!!!!1!
ii) an open mind

and lets not forget his hatred of educatoin. College is for stupid people and frat boys and public education serves only to keep fish sticks out of the the rambling son's mouth. The fact that al is here for astute comentary on education should surprise no one.

NYC Department of Education said it has raised high school graduation rates by 40 percent over the last seven years.

And 80% of them can't read.

This is why they despise standardized tests. Pathetic.

80% can't read. That is significant. I dove right into the article.

Nearly 80 percent of New York City high school graduates need to relearn basic skills before they can enter the City University’s community college system.

Well, that sucks. Horrible news in fact. But not sure how "not ready for college" = "can't read." I, using my third grade reading skills couldn't find "can't read" anywhere.

I did find the article fascinating.

Nicholas Gonzalez, a graduate of New Utrecht High School in Brooklyn, participated in the CUNY Start program. He said he would never had been able to face college credit classes without it.

“I was nervus about how hard it was going to be, how much of a chnage it was going to be from high school,” Gonzalez said.

i'm getting nervus two.

In fact, the entire source is nearly impossible to read. The old media would give a hearty guffaw.

I'm also confused who hates standardized tests. It seems hating standardized tests is kinda like hating the commies. It is fashionable to hate them, but no one really knows why. But who hates them? Riters who ca'nt spell? Kids who aren't college ready (college is stupid also, don't forget that frat boy), teachers? New Yorkers? A screw it, we all hate it and stop trying to feed us less that 9,000 calorie meals.

Why would it bother colleges? Almost all their money comes from the very wealthy or the sweat of the American taxpayer, poorly disguised as "grants."

Without those grants, we'd be sorely lacking in Belgian Lesbian Poetry Appreciation majors in no more than a fortnight.

Wonder what one needs to major in to work at Toys r Us and then as an insurance agent?

The Rambling son looked at this picture and wonders why the kids in Rwanda get so much more food for lunch than he does.

I told him to thank people in power that don't have a lick of knowledge about child nutrition, but insist they know better.

I worry about the malnutrition in al's house. Being a victim of the old media, small samples, that mother****er Dr. Oz telling him to exercise has really taken a toll on them. It would be shame if al moved to Rwanda, but I really feel it is for the best.

Their primary concern at the board meeting was a bevy of complaints that local children are starving at lunch — and for the remainder of the school day — because the food they offer in the cafeteria is crappy and there isn’t nearly enough of it.--Daily Caller

Read the whole thing here. And laugh at our administration.

How are they going to figure out how to balance the budget when they can't even figure out kids don't like wheat bread and veggies?

In sum, the food they are offering is offensive, but there is not enough of it.  Bigger portions of the offensive food would solve half the problem?  And for the love of Pete, can we stop trying to get kids to eat veggies?  If Golden Coral were in charge of school lunches, this would all be taken care of.

Times sure have changed!  I don't ever remember getting out of school early  for heat.... Are we raising a bunch of sallies?  I slept in a house with no air with the loudest box fan there is, I played outside taking  breaks for a drink, and rode a bus with every window down.  Guess  what....I survived!--Facebook

As I say often, we're raising a generation of complete pansies...no offense to pansies. Sitting in a school is not harmful in the least to 99% of students. The real problem here is why school is taking place in late August in buildings not designed for it.

I didn't wear seatbelts as a child, so why should people have to put kids in car seats now?  I survived.  (insert other examples of airtight al type logic).  The thing that strikes me most, and might require a little research, is just how many high backed chairs do they have at these schools that 99% of students could go to without a problem?  And what are the chances someone might need a battery changed?

Luckily for her, I realized she has every right to make poor decisions. Mike Bloomberg, I am not.

Raising pansies indeed!

Does Al view college as a good value for students?  I ask this question because I

think the price of tuition should double.  This way we get only the kids that really want to be there.  Start the kids out in serious debt. This is also a good way to get more production out of the future workforce.

Al thinks college is for elitist assholes who are pushing our once-great (dashes are also for commies) country towards socialist hellholes like what you find in that gawd-awful place that is Europe.  Education is for morons, but college girls are fun to fall on.

Of course, Al went to UW Eau Claire, but none of this applies to him.

If you choose to waste your income flying to Europe for fish n chips, that is your choice and as a staunch defender of freedom I support your right to make bad decisions.  Wal-Mart has the same dish that tastes just fine to me.  It also has smokin hot cashiers and is the true Murcan success story.

Anyone who has ever been to Europe is obviously not a patriot.  I, for one, refuse to apologize for loving my country.

Our son pretty much wasted a year in traditional 5th grade...teacher didn't even get through the multiplication and division tables (which I knocked out in 3rd grade, back when were dumb as posts compared to today, when kids know more about computers than most adults).

I can't pass this one up.

FYI, for the curious, the last semester I went to college at UWEC, my tuition for the semester was about $1100...this was back in 1993 or 1994. I just checked, those attending today are paying $8798...8 times as much.

Imagine the outcry if homes were 8x more expensive, gasoline, or pizza. It's a good business, because like all things the government runs, it simply expects the taxpayer to hand over their wallet and pay the bills, no matter how ridiculous.

I simply adore the bolded sentence.  I'm still trying to figure out how a home could become 8X more gasoline, or 8X more pizza.

I guess that's just my pinko libtard college education coming through.

Our starter home in Mpls doubled in value from 1999 to 2004.  We made a killing.  **** free market economics - oh wait that's anti Murican values

The cost of attending grad school at the U of M increased like 30 percent in the 3 years I was there.  What a freaking waste.  Should have stuck with the community collage route

Love live Allah I mean Allan
Only commies live in the Bay Area

Doncha know

You have hit the trifecta CA

1- have a lot of edjamucashun
2- spent time in the NW
3- don't care for buffets

If you were an Asian and a 16 year old chick that liked buying skincare products from the Evil Empire you'd probably be his soulmate

Well, a stamp was 29 cents.

Gas was a shade over a buck

The cost of eggs has tripled.

Movie tickets were about 4 bucks (movies will soon be dead)

An ounce of gold was about 350 bucks

A new chevy truck was way cheaper, the tin of coffee cost way less, and a gallon of ice cream was really a gallon.

It's almost like if you cherry pick numbers and use anecdotes to prove your point that you can say about anything you want on the internet.

I think ultimately al didn't get laid in college, and we all have to pay for that sad time in his life.

The externalization of nerd virginity.  It's like toxic waste.
