As promised in the is Rodgers elite thread, I'm creating clips from his elite performance.   Here is the 1st quarter, rest of the game coming over the next day or so.

FIRST QUARTER

Opening Play - Left side of the line sets the tone. Jenkins with awareness and agility to get 2nd level defender.  He actually touches THREE defenders on this run.  Checks on Linsley, checks on Bahk, gets to LB.   Amazing.

2nd play of the game, Adams set the tone in the pass game. One on one and he outruns the DB for several yards of separation. Great off balance throw by Rodgers

5th play of opening drive, 3rd down. - Motion Graham and see that it's man. Run Gmo runs interference to give Graham a step. Rodgers hits him in stride.

3rd and 7 opening drive - TD Adams.

Hawks opening drive - 3rd n 10. Smith with pressure forces Rus to miss open guy on right side. Blake with nice depth and feel in the zone. Jaire blankets Metcalf.

2nd POS for pack, this is the 2nd run to the right in the game. I think it was the last run to the right besides reverse to Lazard. Turner and Veerwhatevs get schooled. Praise be to MLF for learning quick and not going back to it. This play setup a 3rd and long and we punted.

Kenny Clark doing his thing. This is 2nd and 2. Why single team this man? He stuffed Lynch again on the next play to force a punt.

Rodgers going through progressions. 3rd n 3 and Adams is bracketed, comes off quickly and finds Gmo for 1st down. Bullshit OPI called on Lazard. Next play he did a great job of taking check down to Williams who almost got the 1st. At this stage you can clearly see "This is not Detroit Man!"

Martinez gets abused on the crosser, Russ with the bad throw and King drops the INT. Hawks get 3 on this drive so that drop hurt.

Packers send pressure, doesn't get home and King can't hold up one on one vs Locket.

3rd down, Pack send pressure again, great coverage by Williams, King and Jaire. Russ finds only open guy but he is short of the sticks and drops it.

SECOND QUARTER

Sweet play design, both LB's go with Jones and Jesus. Adams has a ton of green on right side.

First RPO of the game. Not your traditional slant or hitch. MLF is winning.

Bad Rodgers shows his face for the 1st time. Hawks send pressure but it gets picked up. Rodgers doesn't trust it and makes an awkward throw to Adams who is covered. If he has poise he has Tonyan or Jones underneath. We get bailed out with the PI call.

2nd n 1 at the 6 yard line. MLF calls 3 runs to the left side and Jones gets home. It was a 4 play sequence, run left for 5, touch pass to Adams that was incomplete, run left stuffed, run left TD. These clips shows the 2 good runs. I fucking love that MLF stuck with the strength down here and jammed it home on 3rd down. You know MM loses his cool and calls a pass.

2nd n 4, Hawks driving and in scoring position. Angry Bald man dials up the pressure and Goodson forces Russ in the arms of Smith. The sack pushes the Hawks back and they miss a long FG attempt.

1st play after the missed FG, Swirvin Ervin for 18. Couple nice blocks but this is mostly the kid showing open field ability.

Back in the redzone. 2nd and 10 and back to the ground game. Jones gets 9 and Rodgers QB sneak for a couple on next play to pick up 1st down.

Next play in the series is Jones up the gut for a tough yard. On 2nd and goal from the 1, yet another run call and Jones gets stuffed. 3rd n 1, does he have the fortitude to stick with it? No.. incomplete pass to Gmo, but the Hawks were offsides. Re-do, and MLF knows what to do.

Look at the pile that Jenkins, Bahk and Lewis make...  All 3 men on the ground.

Packers stop the Hawks on next drive, watch this Clark hustle sack, and we go the half up 21 to 3.

I think if he trusts his blitz pickup he can make a better choice.  It wasn’t a horrible read, but you can clearly see he doesn’t trust it and throws based on matchup only, not if Adams had won or not.  He wasn’t willing to take another second and possibly take a hit.  If he trusts the pass pro he had an option to come off Adams and find Jones with space to work.

It worked out, but not ideal watching him bail instantly.

On the first TD pass even if AR pump fakes to Adams, Allison had nobody within 10 yards of him after the fake rub and he just walks in so they can come back to that play at some point knowing that is there and take whichever is more open.

Safety was in the middle at the goal line, so not a given Allison would've scored. Adams had a free run to the pylon.

Also, not a given GMO makes the catch. Trust...

Agree they can come back to that, maybe with MVS.

I totally believe that the right play was made. I was just noticed how desperate they were to get back to Adams that they completely forgot about the GMO. Totally seeing them at some point using the set up to do different things.

The run to Ervin was also successful because Rodgers was filthy with his ball-handling. He totally hid the ball after the fake handoff and timed the toss perfectly. Rodgers doesn't get enough praise for how he handles the ball.

On the Jones TD where Bak, Jenkins, and Lewis crush the D, that one play earned Lewis his paycheck. He was a bulldozer. I also liked that MLF went to that side, but didn't trust just Bak and Jenkins, but added Lewis. I bet we see that same play again inside the five.

The TD where Adams and Gmo fake the rub was a play they had just put in. Brilliant play by MLF -- just make the DBs hesitate enough to wonder if it's a rub or not and get that little window of separation... Such a little tweak turns a common play into a brand new move.

Next time they will actually run the rub.

Well, now the point for SF becomes, Are they running the rub or not? And which receiver is the primary? It makes the DBs hesitate just a little bit and that's the window Rodgers needs to hit to Adams or Gmo or whoever is running it.
