One thing I didn't see mentioned in the article is that TT generally tries to keep the turd players to a minimum. He doesn't go chasing a lot of players who end up getting into trouble, relative to other teams. I don't pretend the Packers are squeaky clean (Guion for example) but at least the front office makes an effort to be good citizens.

On one hand. It's a Jet middle finger pointed north on how great GMs follow rules and build teams.
On the other. It's pretty much spot on to what all most of us already knew.

Some observations:
The Packers success didn’t start with Favre, it started with a gentleman by the name of Bob Harlan. You may recall the Packers were atrocious during the ‘70 and ’80s. (it was like two decades of Rich Kotite coached teams) The reason for that is this, the team was run by a handful of local bumpkins. You know the Packers are the only publicly owned sports franchise, but the truth is only 7-10 people have a vote that counts for running the team (the Board of Directors). Harlan became CEO in 1989 and knew the team need a football guy to run it not local the local "good ol’ boys" club. In 1991 he hired Ron Wolf as GM. He gave Wolf total control of football operations (an arrangement Ted Thompson still has today). Football guys running a football team and no one looking over their shoulders.
Some of the things the Packers did under Wolf: Hired Holmgren, signed White, Sean Jones, Santana Dotson and Gilbert Brown, and traded for Favre.
They were the first team to bonus players for off-season program participation (ensuring players who like to workout in other parts of the country would come to Green Bay for the off-season training programs).
Wolf worked with Reggie White to create a culture that was welcoming to black players. They would bring a barber up from Milwaukee once a week to cut the black players hair and had soul food restaurant come up from Milwaukee to cook for the team weekly, among other things.
You’ve heard the term "coaching-tree", the Packers have a "GM-tree". Guys like John Schneider, Reggie McKenzie, Russ Ball, Gil Brandt and others were groomed by the Packers.
Some of you guys have said you’re not impressed with the Packer’s success. Since 1992, the Packers have had TWO losing seasons. That impresses me.
The Packers invest a lot in their practice squad. They get 2 hours of position coaching every day and then practice with the team. If they get called up (like the referenced 2010 SB team) they know they game plan as well as their position.
Lastly, as a fan, I’ve had to adjust to the Packer’s (Ted Thompson’s) approach to football. They’re boring. They only make a splash free agency signing once every 4 to 5 yrs or so. They draft the best player available regardless of need. (Rodgers is the best example of this. They didn’t need a QB, but he fell into their lap, so they took him) They’re a draft and develop team, which means as a fan, you look at the whole draft class and think, "this will be good in a couple of years." I’m looking at the ‘13 & ’14 drafts now. They will have 10+ starters (depending how the receiving corps shape up) and 7 significant contributors from those two drafts. The expectation in GB is the 2nd & 3rd year players make a significant step up in performance. Which means a 12-4 team expects to have more significant contributions from 17 players. As aGBP fan the off-season is boring, but, that’s exciting.
The biggest problem the Packers will have this preseason is getting players through waivers to the practice squad.

I've also noted a slight lean towards the God Squad too. If you catch the tweets from the Packers players, you'll see quite a few are devout in their religion.

I don't know the effect God has on Packer championships, but holding the universe together would make anyone of us tired in a second - assuming we had any ability to do so. I do know I thank my lucky Packer stars for how things have been going in GB.
