This team badly needs something to break in its favor. I'm really hoping that Sherrod can come back at some point and provide some depth at a bare minimum. Until recently, I was at least able to reassure myself with the fact that guys weren't being lost for the year, but it's no longer the case after losing Perry and Bulaga. If things don't get better soon, it won't be 2010 level of injury where guys were still able to be replaced, it will be 2002 levels, when the team limped into the playoffs running on fumes.
Sherrod isn't going to ready to play for 3 weeks, if at all. Wonder why they didn't sign a tackle, because right now they don't have a third string tackle.
With them bringing So'oto back today with Bulaga on IR, you'd have to think that doesn't bode well for Clay playing this week. OLB could be Walden, Moses, Zombo and So'oto this sunday. Yuck
Thankfully, even with that poor level of talent at OLB, Detroit's defense is still worse. Packers may have to win in a shootout, and they have the tools to get it done.
Barclay is 3rd T.
Worth bringing in for a look?
You'd think Cliffy would be on somebody's roster by now if he was physically able to play.
TT's certainly had a run of bad luck with injuries for his 1st rounders....Bulaga, Sherrod, Perry, Harrell.
@jasonjwilde
Please sign him now, #Packers. RT @bjohnson613: People. Chad Clifton was a great player. WAS!! He's done. Finished. Kaput. Move on!

quote:Bryan Bulaga has a significant hip injury. There's a lot of conversation about the timeline of a possible return. The more people we talk to, we felt it was best to put him on injured reserve. Could potentially heal without surgery.
*Bulaga was working out, doesn't have crutches. Wants to play. You can't deny what's on the scan. This is in his best interest.

I noticed that they didn't say anything about Bulaga's long-term status. They just say it may heal without surgery. Last thing we want is another Bo Jackson with a hip injury. Time for EDS to show up.
I believe New England worked out Clifton earlier in the year. If he had anything left they would have signed him. It's down to knocking on wood for the oline.
Hoping Sherrod can prove to be healthy enough to help out. If not, surprised no one seems to have mentioned Datko, who's on the practice squad, as a possibility.
Datko looked hurrible until late in camp/preseason then started to come on. They must still see something too "undeveloped" with him yet to bring him up.
If we can maintain, get some players back then we make a run at the right time. The next two games will tell a lot.
I think the next two games could be losses. No CMIII in Detoilet = trouble, and you know the NYG are going to come out of their bye after crapping the bed lately with their asses on fire.
If they get healthy at the right time (meaning after they drop to 6-5), then I don't think they'll lose another game.
Losing Bulaga hurts bad, though.

That wasn't the case with Tauscher when he came in to save the day after the Allen Barbre disaster in 2009. However, Clifton has taken a lot more abuse over the years, and it seems less likely that he'll be able to do something like that.quote:Originally posted by heyward:

Thanks Pakrz.
I don't know if Clifton has anything left in the tank or not. He wouldn't be needed for an entire 16+ game season though. If he has any interest (and anything at all in the tank), it might be worth a look in case the EDS project doesn't work meaning TJ back to guard.
I am hearing everything from
Bulaga's funeral services are Thursday, November 15th, 2pm
to
Bulaga run a 3.8 yesterday at practice
What gives

Both.

I think one would probably follow the other.
A 3.8? Holy crap. I seriously laughed out loud imagining what that would look like.
The distance was 5 yards.
So far the story is he dislocated his hip (MF!) after tripping during a play. First thing that comes to my mind is he had/has some kind of issue, possibly congenital, that may end his career. How does that happen?
Though I am not a doctor, I play one when I'm drunk.

They can probably do fine with what they have but another injury at tackle could doom them.
Injuries...2012 compared to 2010
Injuries/IR
2012 looking a lot like 2010. Just need to finish this season like 2010.

If we do win the SB this year, what does that say about our future? We need to have significant injuries across the board to win? You would think that would catch up to us after a while. And it puts a ton of pressure on TT to come up with great draft after great draft.

Datko would have been a higher draft pick (maybe first 3 rounds) if it weren't for the injuries he had in college. Those injuries don't bode well for a pro career.
AR on the radio yesterday says:
βThey canβt stop talking to each other in practice or in walk-throughs. Itβs great having those guys on our line, and Evan, I mean Evan has been itching the entire season to be able to get out there and I have a lot of confidence in him. I think he has a very good approach to the game and heβs a guy whoβs going to be, Iβm not going to make any bold, crazy predictions, but I do feel pretty certain that heβs going to be with us for a long time and eventually be the starting center.β

....the upside with him is that his main problem right now is lack of strength. This is the one thing that can be improved through the Packers strength & conditioning program.
