At this point we really have to trust that TT knows what he's doing, right?

Unless you don't believe in guys that have proven they can perform in their jobs on multiple occasions (Packers, Hawks, Packers again).

Try to stop Us!

Gosh do I miss the old days when we whined about the punter, KR, TOG hurting the team by not announcing until the 3rd week of the season, whether we actually landed on the moon....

Who needs an OL when your QB rolls out anyway?

I think the concern is over blown anyway. My sources tell me TT isn't worried. TT thinks that a good and plentiful source of OL talent exists in the ranks of Sumo wrestlers. Instead of the defensive player occupying more than one O linemen, the O Lineman would block more than one D linemen.

Yup - Alfred E Newman & I are not worried.

So let me get this straight. TT should have signed a starting caliber Guard/Tackle to accept playing as a backup for the Packers. Where was this player supposed to come from?

You dont need a starting player, you need a viable backup. We have zero guys backing up our line that any sane person would trust blocking for a franchise QB. Not even a guy on the level of Colledge.

Anyways, he was sacked alot last season.. and if either of our tackles or Center goes down we are in a predicament.

Time and time again, Ted has shown that he does not know what he is doing on the lines. Last season Tauscher bailed him out, will that happen again this season? They are going to need someone.
The Pack allowed 38 sacks last season which was the 11th most in the NFL. The season prior they were the worst in the NFL with 51.

They passed on 58% of their plays.

I'd feel more comfortable with another guy that could plug the G/T hole. But I guess they will be searching for him the first 5-6 weeks. There is still time to grab someone off a practice squad or find a decent street guy. Inevitably, someone will get banged up and they will have to.

Let's see drafted a franchise DL in Raji and gotten some HUGE depth early and in late rounds. Let Kampman go for a draft pick. Let Jenkins walk for a draft pick. Has hit on numerous late picks such as Jolly.

On the OL - He's also drafted two tackles in Round 1. Drafted a potential All-Pro in Sitton.

I kind of wish Sherman was still drafting. We need some more pussy footed lefties in the 3rd rounds. I also love tossing 2nd round picks to move up in Round 1 too. Maybe he could encourage TT to sign 300 lb fullbacks like Nick Luchey.

In all fairness to Sherman and the fact that this thread is about the OL, the Pack's team strength under Sherman was always the OL.

Yes, I agree that Wolf left a deep roster for Sherman to work with.

I still have major doubts that this team can even win 10 games this year. They are way to thin and average on both lines.
This post will get referenced at the end of the regular season, that's for sure.
I do feel a bit uneasy with the oline situation as well. I don't understand having EDS as the only backup who can play on the interior of the line.

In regard to Sherman, Wolf absolutely left him a lot of talent and Sherman destroyed the team with his ridiculous drafting and poor free agent signings. He was completely incompetent as a GM.

WWWWWWWWWWWHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWHAAAA

WHAT A ****ING WHINER do you need some more tissues?

Does it ever stop?

Whine about the RB's. Then whine about the OLine depth yes the damn depth.Whine about walking up the steep steps at Lambeau. Whine about the traffic and parking.
You cant have 53 probowler's on a team or can you? If GB had 53 Pro Bowlers what would you whine about the Red Batty's performance?

Get out your football cards and go play with them for awhile and see if you can find some Oline depth.
The bench is TT’s farm system. If you bring in a “viable” backup (read: more expensive player past his prime that wasn’t good enough to make a team that didn’t just win the world championship) he replaces a young, inexpensive guy with potential.

If Ted brings in (insert ILB we just had to have August 08-10) we probably never see Bishop blossom into a productive player. Same applies to guys like Starks, Peprah, Tramon, Flynn, etc.

It can’t be viewed as simply, Veteran X gives us a better chance to win than Prospect Y if he is plugged into action in a game. It has to be how much better would the veteran perform than the prospect to risk his potential in the event he’s ever called upon at all.

There are exceptions, like Howard Green last year, where Ted obviously sees enough immediate impact to justify a spot on the team over a prospect. Given that 13th team photo that just made the meeting room wall, I’ll leave it to him to make that call.

For once you are smarter than you really show. Tauscher failed his physical in August, that doesn't mean he can't pass it now or even in October.
I'm thinking it was the one who lost to Atlanta when Atlanta was in it's second year, and his team was 4-0 going into the game. This Sherman was the HC of the NY Giants in 1968 when that game was played. His name is Allie Sherman.

Thanks Shermy!

I know Smiler. I caught that. It is just that there are more "Shermans" out there than we know what to do with.
