Any clue what Graham Mertz' chances on starting for Florida are?
Other than the horrible pick Wolf has looked pretty good.

5 Minutes in 1st game. No starts after that.
Disappointing Badger offense this half.
Burkett time?
No Wolf Dog returns
Had the Cowboys stopped on 4th and goal, hellva play bt okay. St qb
Inept Wisconsin offense has let them back in the game.
God Wolf is terrible, why not put the other guy in?
I expect alot of pressure on young qb coming up
Lettin' em hang around.
The Packers typically go the way of the Badgers for some reason. Go Pack Go!
An ugly W looks prettier then a respectable L. Let the "Big Fick" era begin
Game started so late, Bong couldn’t find the game thread.
Recorded game and fast forwarded through this morning. Good offense first half, bad offense 2nd half. Their qb was worse than ours so got the victory.
It was nice for Fick to get a win in his first game but beyond that not much was accomplished. They turned a 30 point win into a 7 point win. Wolf's arm is so weak I doubt he could ever be even a decent game manager. Without a few critical drops he would have had a much better stat line. 4.5 YPA is never a good number when the defense is loading up in the box. I was hoping we could get Burkett some PT. I thought with 4 weeks to prepare he might even get the start.
Not much accomplished….other than finishing with a winning record…beating a Big 12 team…getting the new ball coach a chance to assess some kids who hadn’t played much….getting a look at a qb like Wolf who may stick around next year…letting the Seniors go out with a win (I’m 62-years-old and I still remember my very last college game) …other than that, a complete waste. 😀
Now I feel bad for the Okie State seniors. 🤔
…they’ll never get over it…trust me.
I'll be more specific. Not much accomplished for the program moving forward. Wolf played like he probably practices so there was no great unknown there. That is why I made the comment about Burkett playing which is more of an important question than Wolf. Wolf is coming back.
Have to assume Burkett practices like shit because they ultimately have to have wanted him to be the man over Wolf.
I’ve seen how Wolf plays in games.
He will not ever be known as Wisconsins Iverson.
Heck of a clip board holder tho.

I think with both rosters depleted they knew it would be a low scoring game and went with the guy that was the better game manager. If not for 3 drops, one on defense, we probably would have seen Burkett. He's clearly more suited for the Air Raid offense so it could have been an opportunity to get him on the field.
Or maybe they just wanted the senior guy (Wolf) to play? I understand he wants to return next year, but he has no shot to being the starting QB in 2023. Poor arm strength, limited mobility, and makes questionable decisions. No thanks.
I’m glad they got to send off JL with a win, but that’s my only takeaway from the game.
Wolf is definitely coming to UW. https://badgerofhonor.com/2022...ning-wisconsin-2023/

Wouldn't he have to leave first?
He’s been there forever, couldn’t challenge Coan or Mertz. Fickle didn’t go to Madison to coach Chase Wolf.
I hope.
He couldn't challenge Mertz with Chryst as the coach.
Chase Wolf is a poor man's game manager. That might have been a better option than Mertz this year.
He's clearly not ever going to play beyond college, so good for him for taking another year in school to get some additional classes towards a Masters degree. At worst, he's likely to be the equivalent of a very good QBs coach for the Badgers that can get them if the preferred starter is out. Maybe this is his next step towards being a football coach at some level.
I thought he acquitted himself well for a guy with little game experience. He stepped up into the pocket a couple times and made some good plays rolling out (including NOT forcing the ball). That interception in the end zone was a head scratcher but he threw a nice ball for a td that was flat out dropped. He probably doesn't have the athleticism for a chuck and duck offense but he's far from the worst the Badgers have rolled out there.
We probably need a worst Badger QB thread. Dustin Sherer or Allan Evridge? Danny O'Brien? Jay Macias? Lionell Crawford was so bad at QB we made him a WR.
Nope
Its Tony Lowery
Racist.
In 1975 Mike Carrol had 0 TDs and 13 INTs. Or, in 1977 Anthony Dudley had 2 TDs and 10 INTs before he flunked out.
Murderers Row
I can’t recall back to 70s QBs, but that first group from 90-92 that Barry had was terrible until they got Bevell. Jay Macias and Tony Lowery for sure.
The low point for the program was in the late 60s under John Coatta. They went two years without a win, managing only a tie against IA in one of those seasons. Badger games weren't televised back then so the radio was the only option. When the Badgers tied IA it was on some late game heroics and the radio announcer made it sound like the Badgers won the Rose Bowl it was such a big deal. Coatta went 0-19-1 in his first 2 seasons and didn't get fired.
We actually listened to those games back in the day….Rufus The Roadrunner Ferguson was the guy we all emulated.
The Roadrunner was about all they had in the early 70s. After he left Billy Marek came on the scene. I went to a lot of games in the 70s. I never had a ticket, bought every one from a scalper in the parking lot. Tickets went for about $8 back then. LOL.
Pretty sad when the Don Morton years were not the worst

Billy Marek was the first twenty-something bald guy I ever saw.
