This will be a different type of game than many of them in Bears/Packers history.  Both teams will trot out 2 of the worst defenses in each respective franchise's history for this one.

The Packers D will be trying to avoid the dubious record of most points allowed in a regular season in their history, and I think the Bears have already set some records in terms of how poorly they have defended the run.  It actually does make the game somewhat interesting as one of those defenses will end up being worse than the other.

There may have been times in the '70s where both teams had defenses close to this poor, but since I began watching in 1978, I don't think I've seen BOTH defenses this bad.  There's been times the Packers were awful on D or the Bears awful on D, but not both to this extreme.

Looks like Fox has the double header weekend esp. for Atlanta. AS for Miami no telling there. Maybe so Joe can watch the Packers?

My old name in the early 2000s was Pack Fan Trapped in FIBland. I still live in FIBland down south of Champaign. I am right on the edge between the Rams/Saints and the Packers/Bears game. Traditionally Bears trump Rams and it appears that it does this weekend (thankfully). I like it better when the map was more interactive and you could focus in and it would tell you what your station was and if it would carry the game.

I think the Bears are within 80 yards of the most rushing yards ever allowed by their defense in one season in their team history.  Any way you slice it that's pretty bad.

The Packers D has been almost as frustrating to watch but they have at times at least been respectable.   The turnovers are the key.  They need Cutler to throw them a couple because I think the Bears will move the ball and score points.

good point!  I agree.  Unless somehow we develop a pass rush or blitz package to confuse Cutler....he's just going to chuck it up to either on and pray they make the catch.  Jeffrey is a poor man's Megatron and gets better with every game.

Also, since McKown had a terrific game against our D last time, I wonder how soon it would take Trestmann to pull the trigger if  Cutler starts to falter?

We will win in a high scoring game:  Packers 45  Bears 41

Bear fan here, haven't posted on your site in about a year.  Love the site guys.  The Bears D is beyond bad.  IMO, it didn't matter who the Pack was playing at QB.  Alls any team needs to do is lean on the run.  Yes you have to mix in a pass every now and then, but a good Texas high school team could run for 100+ against this D.

There has not been a Shea Mclellin sighting since he put AR out.  He is about worthless.  Teams see what side he is lined up on and run outside to his side.  He is/was a wasted pick.

Strange to talk about a Bear offense that can put up points.  The Bears need to ride Forte and feed him the rock quite a bit.  The Bears need to keep the Pack O off the field.  Mix in some passes to Marshall and Jeffery and sneak in the Black Unicorn and it could be a good day.  Could be.  Cutler needs to play within the offense.  This is something he chooses not to do religously and that is when he turns into Jay Cutpick.  He will throw at least one WTF int and it has a 50-50 chance of turning into a pick 6.  The guy has to go commando every game and that is when the Bear O gets bit in the arse.  When he spreads the ball around that is when he has been most effective this year.  He will more than likely stare down Marshall for the better part of the first few series.

As far as Trestman pulling Cutler if he is sucking it up, it won't happen.  This is still kind of an audition for Jay.  They will live or die with him this game.  He will either make money this game or lose money.

Happy Holidays fellas.

Welcome back, PH.  I remember you.

I think it'll come down to which defense is the least worst.  That and the old Cutler era question of whether good Jay or bad Jay shows up this weekend.  If good Jay shows up and AR shows some rust, I can see CHI pulling it out.  Reverse those two and add in a recovered Cobb and we all just might finally see what this offense could have been in 2013 if not for another visit by the band aid ferry.

My apologies, Shoeless, I didn't know it bothered you that much or I wouldn't have added that one sentence to introduce my take on the issue.  You are correct, I should've just stated my opinion without hitting the "reply with quote" button.  It wasn't my intention to raise your ire concerning this poor use of bandwidth.  Probably the same poor use of bandwidth you had just used to complain about it.

Jay is good and bad every week it seems.  I am amazed at Bear fans that say Jay is playing better under Trestman.  He has thrown 10 ints for goodness sake!!!!  If he would trust the O, the coaching he could be a little better.  But Jay is Jay and he will not change.  he is 31 fricking years old and set in his ways.  I have just come to expect one int a game, lowered my expectations of him and it doesn't piss me off as bad.  I still get pissed.

Rodgers should not have to do much except turn around and hand it to Starks or anyone else.

I think NBC screwed the pooch taking the Eagles Girls game over the Packer Bears. The Packer Bear game has better story  lines  and should be a good game. The Eagles will run the girls out of the stadium early, boring game.

One recent bad development in Packers-Bears game is there is no bad blood between  the teams players, they are very supportive of each other. The front office alliance between the Packers and Bears has filtered down to the Players.  This digusting mutal support society the Packers-Bears have goes back to the earlist piriod of both teams existance. The Bears keep the Packers orginization from going out of bussiness twice and the Packers save the Bears once.

The Bears had run out of money and could not pay thier bills after a Packers-Bears game in Chicago, to help Pap bear out the Packers just gave thier share of the gate receipts 40% to the Bears.

In the modern era the Packers and Bears front office tend to back each other when dealing with the rest of the leaque.

Just disgusting.
