This sequence is what really started it. Guess who was guarding Herro during this? Pat Connaughton.

I said this the other day but there are no more excuses for Bud.  He has been badly overmatched in the playoffs and was terrible last year after the restart getting this team prepped to play.

He’s got a lot of Mike McCarthy in him almost right down to the “we do what we do” mantra.

What I want to know is Torrey Craig on this team?  Does he have Covid?  Is he hurt?  There have been several times this year already when an opposing player gets hot and I have to believe he’s a defensive upgrade over Pat C.

I would imagine they’re letting Torrey Craig’s broken nose do some initial healing before running him out there again.  The way I understand it he broke his nose vs. the Knicks.  I could be wrong on that, but I thought I heard one of the FSN announcers say that in the first Miami game.

That’s good to know.  Would explain why he’s not getting minutes.  I doubt Dragic and Herro go nuts in the 2nd half of last nights game if he’s playing.

Planet Pat should not be getting nearly 20 minutes a game.

End of 1st quarter. Bucks give up an 11-0 run in about 3 minutes with Thanasis, Portis, Connaughton,  Augustin, and DDV on the floor for most of it.  WTAF substitution pattern is that?

End of 2nd quarter. Bucks give up a 7-0 run in the last 2 minutes. Giannis, Middelton, and Holiday were in for this, so that wasn't on Bud.

End of 3rd quarter - give up a bad 5-0 run with Augustin dribbling into an air ball from 10 feet and a Herro buzzer beater. The lineup on the buzzer-beater was Augustin, Connaughton, Lopez, Portis, and DDV. Bud wake up. With 3 seconds left after the airball get some more defense on the floor. Lopez and Augustin need to be subbed out. Even Thanasis is a better option to stop something at the arc.

That's 23-0 at the end of quarters for the Heat. Even with the lousy shooting, that's really the game. This is an ongoing problem for the Bucks. Bud doesn't prioritize the end of quarters like other coaches do. Often, Bud pulls Giannis on a defensive possession to end a quarter to save a foul chance. I get that thinking, but it results in easier points for the opposition.

The big thing in terms of player development is that Giannis needs another post move. He's an 8-year vet, 7 foot with a 7'3" wingspan, a 40-inch vertical leap, and has great footwork based on Eurosteps. He should be Hakeem in the post. Instead, it's just a fadeaway jump shot. It's unblockable, but not automatic for him. It also negates any chance of getting a rebound off his own miss. He needs a drop step or a jump hook. He's a terrible deep post player for a guy with his skills.

I agree on your last points and unless Giannis develops something in the post, I think we may have trouble winning a championship.  Adebayo isn't as flashy but look at that nice 10-15 foot jumper he has facing the rim.   He also makes his free throws.  How sick would be if Giannis just stopped and popped from 10 feet, facing the rim?  We can dream.
