So I am a superstitious type of guy so since UW beat MSU last week I would start things off this week.

ESPNs crappy preview:  http://www.espn.com/blog/bigte...ts-week-5-in-big-ten

Michigan leads the all time series 49-14-1 (yep you read that right 14 wins in 124 years of playing each other)

Michigan has been scoring points in bunches this year but they haven't exactly been playing anyone who plays defense.  I think in this one Bucky hangs tough until very late in the game when UM drives down for a late FG to win 27-24.

The big question is whether Bucky will drive Harbaugh so crazy he eats more boogers?

Heckler-  The MSU result was the most surprised I've been watching a Badger game in a long time. I thought they'd lose a close, low-scoring game, but I was glad to be wrong.

I think UM is a much better team than MSU (whose offense was overrated going into the UW game because of a strong performance against what turned out to be, in retrospect, a terrible Notre Dame defense). I think Bucky hangs tough into the second half, but Michigan pulls away in the 4th for a 28-13 victory.

49+14+1= 64 with my questionable math.  The history may be 124 years but only 64 meetings.

I remember when I thought the Packers would never catch the bares in overall record.   Well.  It happened.

Many say the history predicts the future.  Those who understand realize that past performance has no relevance to the current.   Statistics are only good for judging a curve based on numbers.

I don't give a fugg about the past.

This defense will give us a chance.  Despite how Jim Bob Hollerbaugh froths, this offense will do things they don't expect.

When we win, my greatest glee will be the difference you see in the faces of the coaches on the sideline.  Frothing Jimmy vs Cool Chryst.

For the love that is all that is good, this needs to happen.

Cavetoad,  I completely agree and history doesn't mean a damn thing.  Great for trivia but that is about it.  I actually had to look up the series record a couple of times to make sure that it was correct.  It doesn't seem possible that they haven't played that much historically.

I really do think that Harbaugh is going to have a meltdown in the first half when he finds out this Badger team will not back down from anyone.

The only history that matters to me is what is the head to head record over the last 25 years?   UW had no legit program prior to that w/exception to a few teams in the 60s.

I am putting in all the chips this week - all in - to this team beating Michigan.  Why not?   The Wolverines are very good but not battle tested at all.   I don't expect UW to score a bunch of points but I don't think they will allow many either.

21-13 Badgers

Tshmack,  I am starting to think like you do.  This is a UW team that doesn't seem to be daunted by anything and maybe they are starting to shed the pee down their leg in big spots that they have done in the past in big spots.

One game I keep going back to was the Colorado game at Michigan.  Colorado was up what 21-3 at one point?  I also looked at Michigan's schedule and they have beaten a n a putrid Hawaii team, UCF which is only a little bit better,a so-so Colorado team, and PSU which cant play D anymore.

I think Michigan has better athletes than Michigan State but the Spartans have more experience and know how to win.  Therefore,  I would not assume Michigan is significantly better than MSU and road games are really pesky no matter what.

Michigan hasn't faced a team so far that can play D.  Wisconsin has - say what you want about LSU but that is a very good D and so is Michigan State.  I think that gives the Badgers confidence.

Assuming the Badgers don't turn the ball over like crazy I like their chances.

Is it a penalty in the college game for the coach to be way out on the field?

Supposedly this year the officials not only are supposed to flag a coach but they can also eject them when they get out of hand. From what I have found it would take TWO unsportsman like conduct penalties to get them ejected.  So I would find it hard to believe that they would actually eject a coach from a blue blood program like Michigan.

2 key guys out, a rookie QB in the big house.....I know they have looked very good but the injuries and inexperience have me a bit worried.   One game can be a predictor of things to come with Horni but to play devils advocate we have also seen one game wonders.  I think he is the real deal but we shall see.

Should be a good game tho.  Picking Bucky in a close one.
