If that's the end of the Mertz era in Wisconsin, it's a fitting way to end it. Overthrowing a guy by 5 yards on 3rd and long after getting behind the chains because he couldn't complete a pass to wide open guy on first down.

Leonhard and this staff has some similarities to Greg Gard. They will both have trouble recruiting blue chippers. The difference is Gard and his staff can actually coach guys up.

They probably still won't win, but they were playing the wrong QB. Wolf can make the simple throws. He can't make the difficult ones, but Wisconsin just needs a guy to make simple throws most of the time.
