On one hand, you have to put some confidence in the coaching staff's decision if they start Bush out there.

Seeing Bush play in the past, it's hard not to consider him starting as some sort of a failure. I mean, if Bush is considered the best we have for that spot it's a pretty damn sad endorsement for the overall talent at CB.

Me? I'd take my lumps with Heyward, Shields or a gimped up House instead of putting Bush out there. At least the young guys have some play making ability.

What's even worse is having a rookie (Pick one) lining up at safety to go along with Bush in the secondary.

But hey, if the pass rush improves the secondary will look better by default anyhow, right? RIGHT?????
This has to be some sort of way to motivate Shields.

I don't care how much Bush applies himself in the film room & is a good teammate. Bush one-on-one against any WR is a "WIN" for the offense.

I'm seriously at a loss here. I don't get it
I really think House would have won the job if he hadn't been hurt.

I've got no problem with Bush playing more of a slot or helper role towards the inside where he can be a little physical. But if you isolate him on an island as a corner playing near the sidelines, I don't think he can handle it.

Who knows, maybe he'll be better than we think. The Pack better have a plan B in place if the Bush who gets spun around like a top and no feel for a ball in the air shows up. Realistically, Shields needs to be out on that edge, not Bush.
Shields has under-performed since his rookie season... but I'll take his athleticism on the outside any day over Bush. Shields will give a up big play but he'll also make a play or two to swing the pendulum back a bit.
maybe the coaching staff believes that he is enough for a very over the hill Moss? Really, sometimes; I think that "name recognition" is all asome of you go by...
Moss is washed up, i think Bush can handle him. If he cannot, we will see Sam quicker than you can blink.

And, Boris, what is going on with you? You seem to disagree with everything that is going on right now. you seem so over the top opinionated about everythin at the moment.

Whatever happened to your "Enjoy the Journey" mindset?

the Pack will win the SB this year. I also think that they will probably do a 3-peat...
if they pull it off, has a franchise ever won 4 SB's in 5 years?

I HAVE FAITH... in MM, TT AR DC and really in PN!
You cannot tell me that Jarrett Bush would be the starting CB on any of the other 31 teams. If I say he's the 65th best CB in the NFL, I'd say I'm being generous.

Fortunately, we don't play that much base, so Bush "starting" is window dressing. I'm assuming there is more going on behind the scenes we are not aware of.

Maybe the coaching staff felt Bush deserved the starting role due to his hard work

Perhaps Shields has some immaturity or attitude issues but I expect we'll see Shields opposite Tramon more often than not.

This is a championship ball club, I hope we play to identity for the entire year
Bush is starting because Frisco runs the ball, and whether you like Bush or not, he supports the run D much better than Shields. Having said that, he will most likely be targeted frequently in the pass game
I can't find any information on House. All I know is that he will have to wear that harness for the rest of the season, but has there been any word on him practicing or when he possibly could play? It would be nice to have an idea how long we can expect to see Bush on the field for significant portions of the game.

If so, then put Hayward on the outside. I'm not a huge fan of starting rookies on Day 1, but I don't think he's as much as a man coverage liability as Bush is.
If Woodson and Shields had remained in that game, it would have been a blowout. Bush and Lee are the reason why the Steelers were able to get back in it. The INT was nice (possibly a game saver), but their overall play is why it became a contest.

Settle down.

I didn't say Bush was a good CB, or even an average one for that matter.

The INT in that game was because of film study and the instinct to jump that route rather than follow the TE.

Hence my comment. Your umbrage is your own.
Don't want to vist happy memories in a negative way butwhile Sucklisberger may have been happy to see Bush on the field had our WR's not dropped 5 balls GB blows out Squeelers and I could have played DB and GB still win

#7 for Pittsburgh disagrees.

Bush got that INT in spite of blowing his assignment. Big Ben blew that play big time by missing a wide open Heath Miller, which was Bush's responsibility.

Group me with the naysayers. Bush starting is not good. I don't care if Shields has work ethic issues, or whatever his deal is. He's naturally better than Bush, end of story.

The saving grace is that the Packers play base less than 30% of the time. So being named a starting CB in the base defense could mean much, much less than we fans are making it out to be.
They may have Randy Moss but who is going to get him the ball? Bush is starting because he is considerably stronger in run support, which is needed against the 49ers offense. Shields has shown time and time again that he can't tackle. I'm guessing that despite all the insistence here that Shields in the better player and that Bush stinks, the coaches know more (hopefully) than we do.

Shields tackling appeared improved in what little action we saw him in preseason. We will find out if he put in the time needed and it truly has improved.

Bush has been the starter since late last season. He was the starter in TC and in the preseason. When I visited TC, Bush was the starter and Shields wasn't even the nickle back, he was only going in on the dime package that day.

Why are so many people shocked by this?

I am not real happy the Bush is our best option for a starting CB, but it looks as if that is the case, at least until House comes back.

Also, from my lay-man's view over the past few TCs, Bush is one of the better practice players on the team. I can see why the coaches would want to give him every opportunity he deserved.

Disagree. He didn't "blow" the assignment, he freelanced due to film study. Good thing for him he was right.

I agree. Bush saw something on film, and instinctively reacted to it. That's guts, and if had blown up in his face we'd all have been criticizing him (myself included). Bush made that play, and (IMO) you can't take that away from him.

Agree. Shields will be on the field much more than Bush (including base) as the game/season progresses.

Agree 100%.
