NO

No way! However, he might be able to replace (in small part) the guy who did our analytics and now is retired.

What's interesting to me is that TT is usually quite deft at getting rid of a player a year too early than a year too late (Gerg, Tramon Williams), but with Hawk he was about three years late. No idea what he saw in Brad Jones.

Packers defense to be featured Sunday on “The NFL Today” on CBS

GREEN BAY — A feature story on the Packers’ defense will be part of Sunday’s “The NFL Today” show on CBS, which airs at 11 a.m. CT. The Packers-Chargers game is on CBS on Sunday with kickoff scheduled for 3:25 p.m. CT.

“The NFL Today” will also include a visit from former Packers and current Raiders DB Charles Woodson, whose Oakland team is on a bye this week.

Gotta believe Chuck has some kind words for Dom.

Defense has been so good up front. Nice to see the secondary not have to cover forever.  Hopefully Daniels, Raji, Guion, and even Datone can keep it up.

I think we need a "frost the cookies" emoji

A feature story on out defense?!? We're doomed now dammit!!! Thanks CBS!! Thanks Obama!!

Defensive Real Quarterback Rating

Packers #3

Which helps make our

Real Quarterback Rating Differential

Packers #1

Dom's defense is looking DOMinating this year and it's built to compliment our normally high scoring offense by being best against the pass.

Defensive Real Passing Yards per Attempt

Packers #3

Once our offense gets going, teams will struggle to keep up with us because this defense is going to be shutting them down.

The "average yards per pass attempt" stat, correlates 2nd highest (next to turnovers) to winning any individual game in the NFL. Teams winning both categories are something like 30-3 so far this season.

I'm into NFL stats for predictive purposes. Not that "gambling" is legal or anything. It's just for entertainment purposes.

Here is an interesting article that really goes into passer stats. It makes the case, in my opinion, to use Net Yards per Attempt (in theory it might be more predictive of future NFL performance)

Correlating Passing Stats with Wins

http://www.footballperspective...ing-stats-with-wins/

I've been tracking NY/A ▴ -- Net Yards gained per pass attempt
(Passing Yards - Sack Yards) / (Passes Attempted + Times Sacked)

It's fun to compare it to Passer Differential Rating ect to get another eye in the sky on how the Packers look, as a team from an efficiency angle that wins games.

I have to do the differential myself, I don't know anyone that actually puts the differential numbers out...but the raw numbers are available at Football Reference.

Anyway...the Pack is right where we want them to be...and the defense is carrying a slightly larger load so far. Bottom line...we are a potent and balanced team right now. Dangerous as hell, a very tough out. Love it!

NY/A Differential (  Passing NY/A - Defensive NY/A numbers to create a differential that can be used to gauge the health of an NFL team...because it's a passing league and you must be able to pass efficiently and defend the pass efficiently to win!)

Note: the numbers do not take into account strength of schedule so there is some variance related to that. I don't think in terms of # 1 being better than #2...but those in the top group vs the next group and it all shakes out by the end of the year. Regardless, we are where we want to be.

Arizona and Carolina look like our top competition and probably one or two teams that might gel yet. I think we can smoke any of them when it counts.

Note it shows the Falcons are posers...just as we thought. I kind of hope they keep winning though so we can bust that smile off of Matty's face, and their ridiculous fans. (Vikings south)

Cincinnati Bengals 2.5
Green Bay Packers 2.3
Arizona Cardinals 2.2

NFL.com's box scores report "average yards gained per pass play" (including sacks). I use this as a comparison to see which team won this category, before the Skins / Falcons game last week, every time that a team won this category & the turnover differential, they won the game.

Yup.

I don't know if Capers is awesome or if Capers sucks... or likely something in between.

But I am convinced that we fans are incapable of ascertaining the answer from watching on TV and bitching on message boards.

Even the former players can't figure it out: One week Poppinga rips Capers, the next week he is pimping him for his awesomeness. One week LeRoy is ripping Capers, the next week he's taking shots at the dumdum fans for questioning Capers calls

The important thing is that everybody has an open mind on the topic.
