May just shut down Davis for the year and let the hamstring heal.

The Packers signed veteran safety Eddie Pleasant, who has played in 79 career games (including one this season with Sunday's opponent, the Arizona Cardinals), and released LB Korey Toomer.

Safety could be described as an area of need.

I'd prefer the Saints either don't get to the playoffs or lose quickly.  I am greedy, I want the Pack to get a better 1st round pick from them!!!

That said, they really are a likeable team for the most part.  I've sort of resigned myself to the fact that the Pack will quite possibly end up with the #32 pick from them to finish off last year's draft day trade.

I hope Kumerow gets activated and then stinks up the place for the rest of the season.   I'm not ready for another 50 pages of start Janis posts.

Do you actually think that would stop 50 pages of start Janis posts?

I hope he’s successful.

If Pack don't get right in AZ @ GB, well then....

I think they will win 4 of the last 5 and create at least the perception that that are headed in the right direction. Arizona, NY Jets, this year's version of the Falcons, and the semi-tanking Lions are likely wins. I think they lose the Bears and end up 8-7-1.

8-7-1 would be an ironic record because those of us fans who have a vivid memory of the 1978 Packers their record was 8-7-1.  Who did they lose to on Thanksgiving weekend?  Yep the Spermheads and who did they tie? Yep the Spermheads.

I remember that season vividly! That was the first season I started watching/paying attention to sports and what a year it was:

  1. Pack 8-7-1, which at that time, was a great season.
  2. The birth of Bambi's Bombers with Crew coming out of nowhere with a 93-69 record.
  3. The early stages of the Don Nelson-led Bucks.
  4. Heck, even Badger football was over .500.

Oh you sure are right that in that decade that was an incredible year.   My most vivid memory was when Francis Freakin' Tarkenton scrambled around for what seemed like 5 minutes and completed the winning pass and I believe knocked the Packers out of playoff contention.  The words playoff contention were not used by fans too much back then.

Yep, I remember '78. Near highlight was 8-7-1. We didn't whine about it either; we rejoiced.

1968-69 records: 6-7-1; 8-6-1

1970s records: 6-8; 4-8-2; 10-4 (lost in division round); 5-7-2; 6-8; 4-10; 5-9; 4-10; 8-7-1; 5-11. Two winning years in the '70s.

1980s: Two winning years ('82: 5-3-1; '89: 10-6). Four(!) years of 8-8, including three years in a row; two years of 4-12; one year each of 5-10-1, 5-9-1.

Those were the days... when I said, "My heart bleeds green-and-gold, and these days it's bleeding a lot!"

Same here.  I have to thank the 1978 Packers for making me a fan for life.  I did watch a little bit of football in 1977 but all I ever remember are Cowboys/Steelers/Broncos games.  The '78 Packers were mostly a fun team to watch even though they got destroyed when they went up against some of the better teams like Raiders and Cowboys.
