Great topic.

Love Chuck. Love him to death. Utterly unique player.

But he can't be honored that way before Herb Adderley or Willie Wood. Or Jim Taylor.

Outside of Rodgers if he continues to shine the way he has, I don't see anymore numbers being retired by the Pack. Reggie's death kind of pushed that issue to the forefront. Unofficial retirements like Horning's are more likely.

Pretty amazing in all of this storied franchise, I believe Favre is just the 6th player to get his number retired. I love Woody to death and if GB did decide to do it (and I doubt they will), I'd be very surprised. As others have said, some pretty amazing players should go before him.

No.

In no way a knock on Woody, I truly mean that.  I think there will be some manner of honor bestowed upon him at some point in Green Bay, but not his number retired.

Packer HOF? yes. Number retired?, no. I'm a big Woodson fan but Donald Driver has a better argument for having his number retired. If you're the all time leader in receptions and yards in GB history you have a pretty strong case. And I don't think DD gets that honor either.

I do believe we are watching the last 5 to 6 years of seeing anyone wear #12 in GB though.

Exactly!  Woodson was great, but Leroy Butler had a better career with the Green Bay Packers.  Maybe not a better career as a whole, but better career in Green Bay.

Let Oakland retire Woodson's number.

I love Woodson, but with he and Herb Adderley having nearly identical stats as Packers, Adderley has 5 Championship rings with the Packers, Woodson just one, I don't see him in the Ring of Honor.

I know a lot of fans complain about McCarthy, but I am very happy he is the coach of our team.  It seems like the players have a lot of respect towards him.  Maybe not Favre, but most normal players.

Can't retire them all.  One who I think they should and you young guys may not know of him is Hawg Hanner, 42 yrs a Packer, all pro player, starter on the first 2 Vince championship teams, a coach and a scout.  All 42 yrs a Packer.

42 years a Packer....think about that.

Good article on Chuck making the adjustment to life after football.

...  Ranked fifth on the NFL’s career interceptions list, and a nine-time Pro Bowler, Woodson carried credibility. He had impressed ESPN execs with the thoughtful, well-spoken insight he’d shared as a player in Sunday production meetings before MNF broadcasts. And some of his passionate addresses to his teammates are legendary, like the one he gave the Packers at halftime of Super Bowl XLV minutes after breaking his collarbone.

ESPN wants him to build off that, rather than formal training, of which he hasn’t had much. Since signing a three-year contract with the network in February, Woodson made one trip to Bristol for orientation and a rehearsal broadcast this summer. During that visit, Markman showed the group a clip from the Broadway hit Hamilton and a rollicking Charles Barkley TNT blooper reel. His message: The best entertainment comes when you think outside the box. Woodson’s raw-ness came through in the rehearsal, and his new peers loved it ...

... That was exactly the feel in the production meeting. Just a bunch of people talking football—and who happen to have played with a lot of the guys on the field.

“You ever have to tackle Eddie Lacy, Charles?” Markman asked.

“I missed him on purpose one time!” Woodson said. He quickly added: “It was preseason, man.” ...

One of the best Packer pickups of all time.

I read a great story about how he was leaving the stadium after practice and some locals were around. He thought they were stalking him for an autograph, but they told him they just like they way he played, no autograph needed.

He said that was when he knew he was in the right place.

Packers 2011 starting secondary. Charles, Nick, Tramon, Sam, Pepprah.

Packers 2016 starting secondary. Damarious, Sam, Quentin, Morgan, HaHa.

How does a GM rebuild an all world secondary to potentially great in 5 years with injuries he never saw coming and cuts he needed to make with MD Jennings and Jeron McMillian as placeholders while upgrading RB, OL, LB, and TE and never missing the playoffs?

Aaron and Clay.

I get it.

He drafted them too.

Besides the fact I would love to see the Packers win the Superb Owl for my own selfish reason, wouldn't it be great if they pulled something implausible out of their ass, won it all  and Peppers retires with a ring.

Green Bay would be the place great players go to win championships.  Reggie, Woody and then Peppers.  That would have a nice ring to it.

You spelled Morgan wrong.

Peppers wasted his Woodson years in Chicago. Guy deserves a ring. So did Urlacher. Peanut. They can take that up with Jay sometime.

One of these days. We're going to have an all out "Reggie or Charles. Better signing?" thread. And it's going to get heated.
