Some guys must play Madden and plug in players where they see fit. If they win they then think this is a good idea and the Packers should do this too.
Pretty sure Ted only converts linebackers into fullbacks
Would be nice if "Belly size" adjustment was "belly fire" but it's a good way to build a roster.

Be nice if you made more sense, Slick. If Hawk isn't "in the mix" than why would you think I'd suggest putting him outside? I'm for putting him outside the gates of Lambeau. And you're right, slick, they are playing a 3-4. How's that worked out? I know, a Super Bowl and some playoff appearances. Maybe that has to do with having an all time great qb. Be nice to give him a defense before he's using a walker. Brady may soon be going to his 6th SB. How confident do you feel right now that Rodgers will make it to his second? Perry did little at outside linebacker. Looks and plays more like a DE. Bishop we can only hope will be back to what he was, but even at his best he doesn't have the "skill set"that Mathews does. I doubt this "flight of fancy" I posited will actually ever happen, doubt even that MM will fire Capers, as he should, but I still think it's worth discussing, as we are.
Keep setting up those strawmen. You proposed "Matthews at ILB, why not?". Then you throw out a bunch of detritus when that argument is soundly bitch slapped.
PM tit, he'll rub your tummy.

Kind of hard to do "much" as a rookie with a fractured wrist who was on IR for the last 10 wks of the season.
He showed some ability, especially for the run side OLB spot, and was in the middle of transitioning into the position.

Wow. Awful lot of anger over a simple football discussion. Okay, Mathews shouldn't play middle linebacker. You okay now? Down from the roof?

Well, Clay did get some good pressures up the middle on stunts. I could see him coming on delayed blitzes from the middle and with his speed be almost unstoppable. It is difficult to see him locked up with the other guys' best tackle and Clay is too light to do much. Does anyone have any info on from where Clay's sacks have come from, over LT? Middle? Were they stunts or rushes from his side?
You think he's going to breeze by the LT every time? Mike Neal did pretty well on some stunts with Clay, let's put him at OLB.
No, I don't expect him to breeze by the LT every time. I didn't say that. But it also makes sense to free up your best pass rusher in as many ways as possible. That's why I ask where his sacks and pressures came from. If Neal and Clay combined on stunts to free up Clay for X sacks and pressures vs. Clay rushing alone over LT producing X. That's what I want to know so I can make a more informed opinion.
Why not sign FA Rey Maualuga for the inside?

I'll get off the roof when you start doubling up on your Depends.
Ray Urlacher will available next year.

I fully agree with bigger use of stunts. Part of Matthews locking up on a LT comes from not getting the push up front all the time. Neal and Matthews playing off one another was a good start. Definitely need to keep working on different sets and formations to free up Matthews considering the amount of attention he already draws but outside of a couple of different packages for different looks putting Matthews at ILB is just wasting his talent.

Former teamate of Clay's at USC. Rey has kind of been up and down. He's more of a 3-4 ILB than what he did in Cinncy. His coverage skills are rough. Certainly an upgrade over what GB has today. Rey and Bishop in the middle.
The last FA LB out of Cinncy that they viewed as a bust and let walk turned out to be pretty decent. Ahmad Brooks.

Perfect summation
Probably the greatest thread ever. We're gonna have to expand the Subset.

Clay had 13 sacks, ChilliJon. Even more impressive. When you consider that two of the four games he missed were against the 4-12 Lions, you have to believe he gets at least two or three more if he plays all 16.
