Well, the Texans have been drug into this as well, LOL.  This makes Brent's seperate locker room look like peanuts comparitively.  Although I'm sure he would have liked that add-on to his private locker room.

I have no doubt Watson's guilty, but a year suspension?  I'd rather see the guys who beat up women and children get year-long suspensions.  Even though deep down inside, I'd be good with the year suspension just to make me laugh even harder at how dumb the Brown's organization is.

The Browns structured his contract so that the biggest goal for Watson in all this was to not miss a whole year. If he did, he wouldn't be a free agent again until another year since the contract would just roll over. He'll only be 32 when he's done with this contract and be that much closer to his next enormous signing bonus (if he plays well). He's succeeded in avoiding that. His base contract was only for 402,000 this year so he only loses about 125K for the extra 5 games he misses. That's probably why they fined him what they did. If they didn't fine him, he'd lose virtually nothing financially because of how the Browns structured his contract.

The extension of the suspension hurts the Browns more than it does Watson. The Browns have what appears to be a VERY easy schedule in what would have Waton's 6 game suspension. Even without him, they're likely favored heavily in those first 4 games. The schedule gets much rougher on paper in the extra 5 games he's going to miss. They might be looking at 0-5 in those 5 extra games *(and be looking at 7 losses in a row with him already planning on missing the Chargers and Patriots games) whereas if Watson would have played, they'd have a chance to pick up a couple of extra wins.

Watson keeps most of his money and the Brown are much less likely to make the playoffs. That's the outcome of this.

NY Jets

Pittsburgh

Atlanta

LA Chargers

There was a nice piece published today by Judy Battista that was spot on.  She's often the voice of women for the NFL.  In it, she wrote, "Andrew Berry said Thursday the team put together a plan as soon as the trade was completed for how Watson would get massages if he ever had a soft tissue injury."  LOL, nothing but the ugliest males they can find.

Dont matter. Close your eyes and a rub and a tug from male or female does not matter as long as you keep your eyes closed. Or so I've been told by those supposedly in the know by the likes of YAYA.

FYI.....

Dan LeBatard reporting De Shawn Watson allegation maybe leaked by Cleveland to get out of contract.

That would make a TON of sense. Cleveland is totally fucked with that contract

It would make sense but the assailant’s lawyer put out a press release with all the gory details yesterday, the first public reporting of this.

The timing is quite interesting since the event  happened in 2020, would you agree?

We all know Watson is a POS. I'm just trying to figure out why she didn't accuse him of assault when all the others did in 2021? Or even last year since this event happened in 2020??

Had to wait until game #1 of NFL regular season for maximum effect, yes?

SI has a good story explaining all the ins and outs of Watson contract.  If allegations are true they may be able to get out with no money being paid.

It also includes this clause, which may be relevant now that the NFL has opened its investigation: Watson would be considered in default following an NFL or team suspension β€œfor Conduct Detrimental” or being β€œsuspended under the NFL Personal Conduct Policy” or β€œthe NFL Policy on Performance-Enhancing Substances, or the NFL Policy and Program on Substances of Abuse.”

Most likely she wasn't ready to speak about it.

I'm doing my internship in mental health counseling this fall--took a break from my regular job.  Anyway, it is amazing how long students I've met with so far can hold things in and never talk about them because of how traumatized they are.  Afraid no one will believe them, afraid of retaliation, afraid of being ignored, afraid of just reliving that experience while trying to process it.  We're only 3 weeks into the semester and some of the shit I've heard is mind-blowing.  Way out of my league as an intern but holy shit the things some people have gone through.  And some of it from fucking parents and siblings.

Victim blaming someone who may have been sexually assaulted is kind of a bad look.

This accusation is much more severe in nature relative to the previous ones. And that is not meant to downplay the previous ones which were incidents in which Watson seemed to like pressuring masseuses to give him hand jobs.

The other difference is that instead of desperately wanting to trade for the known hand job king, the Browns probably desperately want to get out from this contract. The Watson trade might go down as the worst trade in NFL history given what they gave the Texas to get him and the guaranteed money they gfave him (while already knowing he was a gigantic character risk). At least Bryce Young (which might also be one of the worst trades in NFL history) isn't a sexual crimes criminal and didn't cost 240 million dollars,.

β€œJane Doe came out of her bathroom to investigate Watson’s silence and shockingly found him completely naked on her bed, lying face-down on his stomach. While Jane Doe stood there in shock, Watson turned his head and aggressively insisted that she massage him, gesturing to his buttocks. Jane Doe asked if Watson meant he wanted her to massage his back, but Watson indicated that it was his buttocks he wanted massaged.

β€œJane Doe was at this point in the encounter terrified. She was in her small apartment with a much larger man, and she was still reeling from Watson’s outburst and aggression on the phone. Doe thus tried to appease Watson by rubbing his back, rather than his buttocks. Watson began insisting, again, that she focus on his glutes. Seemingly frustrated that Doe would only rub his back, Watson then turned over, revealing an erection. Watson continued to demand that Jane Doe massage him, gesturing from his knees to his groin. Jane Doe froze in fear, unsure of how to refuse Watson’s advances without jeopardizing her safety. Confused and scared, she reiterated to Watson that she wasn’t a masseuse. Watson asked her what she wanted to do instead.

β€œBefore Jane Doe could answer, Watson grabbed Jane Doe’s leg and positioned her so that she was lying down. Watson then partially disrobed Jane Doe and penetrated her vagina without consent, implicit or explicit. Jane Doe felt paralyzed, unsure if she should risk her safety by trying to stop Watson or endure his assault. Watson roughly sexually assaulted Jane Doe for several minutes in a β€˜missionary position’ before grabbing her and flipping her over. Watson continued to assault Doe aggressively from behind. Jane Doe finally gathered the courage and strength to escape Watson. Jane Doe quickly ran to her dresser to grab a heavy piece of décor for self-defense, and yelled at Watson [to] get out of her apartment. Enraged, Watson stormed out of Jane Doe’s apartment.”

The statute of limitations for most personal injury cases is two years. In Texas, a five-year window applies because the case expressly alleges sexual assault,

The plaintiff is represented by Tony Buzbee. He represented many others who sued Watson in 2021.

This new case raises plenty of issues, from the standpoint of the league and the Browns. It’s possible that Watson could be subject to further scrutiny under the Personal Conduct Policy. It’s also possible that a suspension β€” if one is imposed β€” could give the Browns a path toward voiding his remaining salary guarantees and ending the relationship.

The biggest difference between the latest case and the others is that Watson specifically is accused of sexual assault.

Imagine being a Browns fan and watching what Baker is doing in Tampa. Where's Hank The Tank when you need him?

Which would you choose?

Door #1: Deshaun Watson at 240 million guaranteed (46 million a year) with dead cap hits of 200, 170, and 100 million from 2024-26. Watson did not want to go to Cleveland and they had to guarantee him the money to convince a known low quality human being to move to Cleveland.

Door #2: Baker Mayfield at 30 million a year for 2024-26 with 100 million guaranteed (with dead cap hits of 40, 33, and 17 million). Plus...

2022 1st round pick (13th overall subsequently traded , Jordan Davis), 2022 4th round pick (107th overall, Dameon Pierce), 2023 1st round pick (12th overall subsequently traded , Jahmyr Gibbs), 2023 3rd round pick (73rd overall subsequently traded , Jalin Hyatt), 2024 1st round pick (23rd overall subsequently traded , Brian Thomas) and 2024 4th round pick (123rd overall, Cade Stover)

And, Baker Mayfield was the face of their franchise, had ads on every 10 minutes which showed him living at the Browns stadium, and seemed to be a guy that would have loved to have been a Brown for life.
