I kept wondering why Manning didn't make an appearance later on in the year. Only during the playoffs did I read he lost a bunch of weight. He was down around 220 I believe. Spent the rest of the season just getting back to a decent playing weight.
He also had a shoulder injury at the beginning of November. Played ST's wildcard week and earned a gameball. Said he was only back up to 232 and still missing a lot of muscle. Thing I like about him is there's never an excuse coming out of his mouth. Always takes responsibility for doing his part to make the coaches put him on the field.

I can't imagine going through rookie training camp feeling like you might **** your pants at any moment.
Not comparing the requirements of the twp different activities, but there are a fair number of people on this forum seem to suffer from that condition on a regular basis.
Not being stout on the edge was a huge part of the run defense failings this year (five games really stand out - both Minnesota regular season games, Giants, and both San Fran games). I have no stats to prove it, but it seemed many of the miserable plays were on the right side of the Packers defense - away from Ryan Pickett (and usually CMIII). Of course, it didn't help that AJ Hawk was so effen slow to help cover up the weak edge that often the DBs were being asked to fight through the WR blocks to make a tackle on a RB running full speed. Lastly, while Dez Moses has great speed-rush skills, he either needs to learn how to play the run better with leverage/speed or ONLY play on obvious passing downs.
Therefore, consistency from guys like Neal, Wilson, Daniels, Worthy, Walden, Perry, Moses, and Zombo and a sure tackling ILB with speed to replace Hawk could be all the defense needs to get better - a lot better.

An OLB who can't set the edge is like tits on a boar. Especially if the CB on that side runs away from tackling and the ILB can't shed blocks. Buh bye, hawk, grab and drag (10 yards downfield) somewhere else.
Hell, hawk hasn't been involved in a turnover in 2 years, has he? That's like paying a big man not to rebound.

Or on every running play.
