I bet Cullen Jenkins is really feeling good about his decision to sign with the "Dream Team" right about now.
He didn't have much of a choice. The Packers really weren't interested.
He didn't even give them a shot in free agency. He only came to the team and gave them an offer for what he felt to be a "hometown discount" extension. He was pissed because he felt he had been "slighted" by the Packers when they didn't jump all over the proposal. Everyone was shocked by how small his deal with the Eagles was (5 years/$25 million, and his salary was cut after just one year with them by after a bonus he was due in this year was lowered significantly). Had he gone back to the Packers and showed them what the Eagles wanted to give him, it seems pretty unlikely that the Packers would have been unwilling to give him $5million/year (which an option to void the deal after just one season). Ted also screwed up in the deal, but it really looked like the biggest factor was Cullen getting pissed over the way things played out.
The Eagles strike me as a team borderline ready to quit on their coaches. They really look bad.
How bad does the Nnamdi Assytrgwqt signing look now? The only thing worse than his coverage is his tackling.
"It was about security". Sure it was, Cullen. That's why you signed a deal with the Eagles that had an option to void the contract after one season. Ted made a huge mistake by thinking Walden and an unproven commodity like Mike Neal (who finally seems to be turning it on, thankfully) could replace him, but it was pretty obvious that Jenkins was angry that the Packers didn't agree to his offer.

So far, Jenkins indicated club management has had almost no conversation with his representative, let alone make him an offer.
In the last two months, the Packers signed Donald Driver and Woodson to two-year contract extensions. Those were the latest moves in a busy nine months in which Brandon Chillar, Chad Clifton, Ryan Pickett, Mark Tauscher and Nick Collins all received lucrative new contracts.
Any offer by the Packers to lock up Jenkins and thereby prevent him from reaching free agency probably would require a substantial signing bonus. The 30% rule prevents them from increasing his current base salary of $3.2 million by more than 30% next year and in succeeding years.
A friend of Jenkins described him as angry and upset about the team not recognizing his worth and failing to make him a genuine offer months ago. For his part, Jenkins said he was "close" to feeling disrespected by management.
As mild-mannered as Jenkins almost always is, his temper can be volcanic. He has been called "totally Jekyll and Hyde" by a friend.
On the night of Aug. 3, Jenkins lost it during practice and started screaming obscenities at the top of his lungs. The next day, during a meeting with coach Mike McCarthy, Jenkins expressed his frustrations about the contract.

Sounds to me like a guy who wanted to be here. I might not agree with the way he went about it, but everyone's different.
The Packers decided they couldn't afford him because of the signing bonus issue and his age, and his age, and his age, and that was that. When the Packers want you they let you know during the season. Otherwise they let you shop and if you come back to them cheap they'll consider ala James Jones.
Cullen Jenkins played to the best of his ability while he was here, played hurt, played sick against the Bears in the championship game and provided two tackles for loss, a half sack, and two quarterback hurries.
No offense to you but I'm tired of hearing this guy get dogged around here. The Packers made clear that they weren't interested and he played through it when he could and played damn well. As always can't keep everyone and hindsight being 20/20 I bet they would have liked to take that contract they gave Chillar (4 years $21 million $7 million signing bonus DEC09) back and have used the money to sign Cullen to an extension.

Forget where I read it now but recently someone made the point that most left side cornerbacks don't play the best receiver and Nnamdi exclusively played the left side in Oakland and it made his play look better because of the competition he faced. He plays the left only, but he can shut down any player. He's struggling because the Eagles run a zone defense where he's average. Nnamdi is amazing man to man coverage still.
