He never dazzled anyone, but he made throws tonight in big spots. They're a scrappy bunch, no doubt. We saw that twice last year.

I think that’s a fair assessment. He doesn’t have any traits that make him elite, but he makes just enough nice passes that it makes him better than the “bad” starting QBs in the NFL.

I think if the Lions want to win a Super Bowl, it’s probably going to need to be someone other than Goff as a QB.  Goff is good enough for them to win the NFC North though.

I think tonight's game was a good example of how games are won/lost in the trenches.
KC's OL, especially the RT, got their asses kicked all night. Even though it didn't create sacks, it did put pressure on Mahomes.

KC's WRs were the best players for the Loins defense.

Just a reminder from Week 1 last year: TBSS beat the Niners. The Bears moved to 1-0. The Niners moved to 0-1.

Fast forward to January 2023. The Bears were 3-14. The Niners were 14-3.

Regular Season Week 1 = Preseason Week 4 (sort of).

It's also an NFC/AFC game. Doesn't really mean a whole lot for tiebreakers.

If. Chiefs were playing Broncos/Raiders/Chargers I can't imagine K.C.  playing the same game.

Lions are not bad but they put up 14 points on a mid-level defense missing its best player. Gibbs is a player. Crowd the line, blitz middle and get the D-line hands up. I didn't see anyone stretching the field for Detroit.

It looked like  Mahomes was thinking "Where's Travis?" on most of his drop backs. Hopefully, the Packers' no name receivers are better than the Chiefs'.

Campbell has changed the Lions culture, which trumps schemes, plays, etc. They play with tremendous energy and aggression. It starts with the offensive line. KC has a better roster, but the Lions were tougher last night. Packers have a better roster so our 2 games with them are going to be a real litmus test for MLF and his staff's leadership.

A great point and without even watching I'm certain the overreaction morning shows are already well on their way to freaking out.

As much as I think Campbell is a bit of a meat head he has that team playing hard, aggressive, and physical football.  These are not the Lions we have grown accustomed to over our lifetime.

I'm going to be interested seeing how a healthy Packer defensive front handles the Lion O-Line

THIS FUCKING GAME PISSES ME OFF!!

DO YOU FUCKERS UNDERSTAND THAT THIS DIVISION IS GOING TO BE WON BY A GAME OR TWO?!.

THE FUCKING LIONS MIGHT HAVE GOT THAT FUCKING GAME WITH THIS ONE. FUCK!,,,, FUCK THIS..

Personally, it warms my heart to see some semblance of hope in Detroit. The excitement reminds me of that warm feeling we all had in about late 92 that things had changed and we had a very bright and exciting future. Maybe

Campbell is at worst a loveable knucklehead and I respect his authenticity.

It's good for the NFL, and of course long suffering Detroit, and it's good for the division in my opinion.

What's it even like to see a Lion on that helmet when I've been used to seeing a pussy for 50 years?

It's very fun to watch a team reverse 70 years of ineptitude.

Maybe.

It's one game. Let's see if they go wire to wire now that they have the division lead.

It's a different ballgame when you're the favorites and have to live up to the billing.

There's no doubt the Lions are a good team and Campbell has them playing hard, but don't discount how shitty the Chiefs played. Kadarius Toney handed them the game via the pick six, and he and other KC receivers dropped other drive killing passes. Playing without Chris Jones and that meat-head Kelce really hurt them.

It would normally have me rooting for a team like Detroit if they weren't in our division.  Now I will say though that if the Packers are out of it and Detroit is still in it I wouldn't mind seeing them do well just not at the Packers expense.

I never think it's fun to see another NFC North team do well. On a scale of hate, though, the Lions are considerably lower than the Vikings and just a half game behind the Bears.

Maybe more so how games come down to a few plays and capitalizing on the other team’s mistakes. Detroit scoring on Toney Ismael’s stone hands was huge.  Detroit going for it late in the 4th and not making it still should have cost them the game. Except then KC went in to “hold my beer” mode.

They also had 6 months to gameplan for the Chiefs and that fake punt will make everyone aware so that trick is used up. I think quite a few teams could have beaten the Chiefs the way they played. Their WRs were reminiscent of our situation last season. How good can it be when MVS is your most reliable WR?

I thought the same thing last night.  Its way too early but I think the Chiefs might be in trouble offensively.  If MVS is your #1 WR you will get the occasionally big play but you will also get the routine drops.   They are also breaking in two OTs and that is never a good thing.

All that being said I think they still will be in the mix for the top spot in the AFC.

KC's offense will go through some things in the first half of this season.  DET D is playing better but there were plenty of opportunities KC couldn't capitalize on.

Goff threw some good balls but most of the bigger completions were to guys that were wide open.  Credit their OC and WR's.  He struggled when trying to throw guys open or hit a tight window.  If their OC is legit, Gibbs could be scary.

Seemed like the classic case of timing and bad luck for the Chiefs as they were without 2 of their best 3 players in Kelce and Jones.

Detroit is going to be pesky for sure, but this is not a complete or well oiled Chiefs machine right now either and it was a 1 point game.

The play that probably lost the game for K C was the 3rd down direct snap to Bell that lost 3 yards.  If K C just runs a regular play or a short pass and get the 1st down the drive may have continued.  They go down the field, use up a lot of clock and kick a FG to win.

And there was also a holding penalty on the last KC drive that nullified a long pass that would have been a 1st down too.

The 3rd and 1 play was definitely the killer. The look on Mahomes face said it all. How do you take the ball out of Mahomes hand on such a critical play with 5 minutes to play?

Reid has gotten so much praise over the years and I see him do some of the worst coaching ever. He's especially bad with clock management but Mahomes covers a lot of mistakes. There was a lot of bad decisions last night on both sides.

There were a lot of killers in this game. The one that made me say "game" was Toney's drop with about 2:30 left when he was wide open and had acres of running room. No doubt, Detroit played hard but KC probably would have won if Toney caught the balls thrown right to him or if he didn't play. Rodgers would have ignored him for the year after the INT!
